Chromoly gets my vote. lighter and stronger than mild steel, and it's never let me down. My current frame is 13-butted chromoly and takes a beating every day. Trust me, chromoly does bend quite a bit before it breaks. I bent the downtube in half on my old Fit frame.

*edit* I just realized no one would know what I was talking about, so here's an example. my old bike:

whats the purpose of the 4 point? besides extra weight... think about it functionally & get back to me. It may look prettier but i don't see any improvements.

the 4 point IS stronger. think about it the 2 point creates a rectangle. with the four point it is creating triangles by supporting the ends of the subframe back to the firewall

im not a believer of that jon. by any means. by the design of the K frame (FWD applications) your just adding extra bars.

K frames are just spot welded togeter along the seams, if for no other reason, metal fatigue on a part that old is reason enough for me to want to brace it. 1500 lbs of applied force is a lot of weight on a spot welded K frame. Look at any high end mofern european car (FWD ofcourse) and they have seam welded K frames for this resaon

we can create a 3-d model of it (like in solidworks) and do fea (i think thats it) on it and see which one can handle what...
