GB: Toyota E153 -> BP adapter plates (CLOSED/awaiting delivery)

it does require a certain amount of tools, skills, and resources to build engine mounts and things like that... so i can see why there arent dozens of people jumping on it, but i figured 10 would be no problem.

I cant weld nor do I have to tools to attempt welding. However, I still see it being easily done with a little time and a borrowed welder. It don't have to be perfect but the more time I spend on it the better the results.

i want to but its such bad timing right now between buying ms, and a winter car, and a built motor....lol.... im still goin to try and scrap up some money for this... i was almost figuring it was goin to be the last thing i buy after i get all the damn parts for the swap...lol....

I'd be in, maybe even for 2 (one fwd, one 4wd), but right now those projects are on the back burner while I stop spending and save so I can get a house. and a tire changer.

does the fwd and awd yotas share the same front axles?
also are the tranz mounts the same between the fwd and awd yota boxes?

i have not really searched much about the fwd or awd toyota tranz stuff, but i might be soon.

do you have any pics of the plate , or of your swap all mounted up in your car?

The front axles that are used are from a celica alltrac, regardless of whether your BG is awd or fwd.

The mounts you need to build will be different between FWD and AWD because the body of the car is different (as you know). The two side mounts may entirely or partially interchange, but I'm not sure. The brackets that actually bolt to the trans will all be the same, as the trans case is the same. Actually the E153 can be converted from FWD to AWD by swapping differentials and installing a rear transfer in place of the block off plate. (its not quite THAT easy, but close).

I'll try to get some better pictures, but I don’t really know anyone local with a lift sooo its kinda difficult. Awd is obviously harder to do, theres a lot of additional components to build mounts for...

o.k., just to be sure,,
both the fwd and awd yota tranz cases are the same?
and both the yota awd and fwd front axles are the same?
also the spline count and size on the outer axles are 100% same as the bgs, ie it will fit through the stock spindle, but i will have to get rx7 ball joints and run 93-up bg spindles to fit the ball joint.

yep the splines fit the stock hub 100%

for awd you need the alltrac inner axle stubs. for fwd you need mr2 turbo ones.

for fwd you can either run the rx7 balljoints or mx3 LCA's.

for awd if you need the width you can run fwd lca's, since there is no such things a 93+ awd spindle. you may not even need any extra width in the AWD, i have no idea.

if i cant find 10 people by the end of the year i may give up on this :/

the gearing advantage depends what gearset you go with. the MR2 gearset may make the car quicker, i think its a 4.3something final drive. the camry gearset is taller than the stock BP trans, i'm trapping 117 at only 6k rpm... technically makes the car slower, but running out of gear will make you slower than a taller gearset!


PS: i talked to Jho for the first time in a long time the other day. he bought a house, doesnt spend much on cars anymore (lots of work to do on the house). its down the end of a dirt road that the maroon car can barely make it down, hes look into buying a truck lol. he still has the GTR motor though... someday
