Yeah, they'll need hubcentric rings (same with the Corrado rotors). Ryan, you really think the bigger holes for the studs will be a problem? I figured the clamping pressure would be plenty.

Hmm... I'd say the 280mm ones, just to keep wheel fitment better. You should be able to get the mini rotors as blanks, and get the regular size holes drilled. Or, just spin them 90 degrees and re-drill. weight savings and better fitment at the same time... I think you should really have the holes the proper size, because that movement could be enough to introduce serious stress to your studs, which could just decide to snap off, and put you in a world of hurt....

What's the hub circle on the mini rotors?

I just wish the calipers could hold thicker rotors... the rotors I was toying around with in my imagination were from a celica.. 275mm diameter, 28mm thick, 55mm hub circle, same as OEM. (54.1 is the actual hub circle, but I think they made the rotors at 55 just for a bit of clearance.)

Just to throw some crap in the mix...

'course, the toyota one sits 4mm deeper inboard, so would need to be made to fit properly.

In case you don't already have it, here's Brembo's page, where you can search through their catalog by dimension..

good call on the 90° rotation. & yes ferdi i do believe that. i've had some slop in my DBA's that have caused some clunks/clinks under the listed conditions

In that case, the Corrado rotors wouldn't work either as their stud holes are bigger than stock as well even though the VW uses 12mm studs (13mm versus 13.75mm).

90° & redrill looks to be a good option

                  you guys are rather paranoid...

if your rotors are spinning like that under accell/decel your wheels are WAYYYYY too loose! you MIGHT be able to get them to budge if you slam on the brakes in reverse, but thats about it. otherwise they will sit against the studs in the direction they normally see stress... forward braking.

^^^I agree with this. Cause if what he is saying about the corrado rotors being bigger then the VW studs then thats telling you right there that it does not matter at all. Run the hubcentric rings and torque your wheels down 90-100 Ft lbs and be done with it.

yea, they won't budge...hell i've had replacement rotors that had a bit of play around the lug stud...after they're TQed down, they wouldn't move.

good call with the mini cooper rotors!

I am little busy with my Toyota trans conversion right now. But, I still plan to do this. Too bad no local shops have Mini rotors in stock, so I gotta order them.

i really like this idea. something to go well with my miata rear upgrade. i will let you guys who have more time to toy around with bracket design ideas. but i really like the idea of the mini cooper rotors. and i do think they would work with 15" wheels since minis come with 15's
