whats the issue with customs? we all getting sent some radiation?

No wonder Ksport didn't call me back yesterday---they don't have the lower clevis mounts on the order/shipment. I spoke with Anthony at KSPORT (and feel free to call him anytime/ask questions/ride him if you feel the need) and the factory/supplier that built the lower mounts is gone---it sounds like they started building them in house, they are going to honor our 6 sets/agreement/price and build the struts---but after this either the price is going up or they're discontinuing the units---if the units are discontined (he says I'm the only guy in the country selling them/selling any significant numbers...) they will still continue to service them/rebuild them/warranty them. He wrote a small letter explaining what happen to me and I told him I'd post it on the forum---Here it is-it's not well written, but explains the issue.

Unfortunately we here at Ksport have slight issue with the 6x Mazda BG GTX kits that you ordered, part number ksp-cmz160-kp. I know we were expecting them sometime this week for your customers. However, our factory didn’t not mention this delay until the last minute with us. It so happens that our factory actually outsources the lower mounts that the mazda kits carry because they are a little different and more difficult and time consuming to make. The partner company of the lower mount has actually closed its doors and unfortunately the mazda orders happen to fall in the assembly line that did not get produced. Since then we started to manufacture the mounts ourselves, but due to the cost and time each mount takes, we were forced to of either completely discontinuing the mazda coilovers or raise the prices to all of our dealers. As an convenience we will honor the price that we agreed on only if your customers are willing to wait until mid june until the next container arrives. If not the higher prices are immediately effective unless they want to pay the difference to get it here quicker. Sorry again.

So...we can wait until mid-june for the units, I can refund the group buy or the other option was they could try an build the lowers here, charge about $160 per unit getting them here towards the first week of June which is ridiculous/not really worth it to save a week or two. Sorry guys, I was expecting them to arrive this week and ship next, but it looks like it'll be another 3-4 weeks. I do need to let him know this week to continue the order---and they'll be manufactured and on the next shipment. I'm frustrated/disappointed, but I understand it's not KSPORT USA's fault/my rep's (Anthony's) fault---it's just not good biz and I don't like being a part of it. For the record I hadn't had any issues with KSPORT in the past and they had exceeded my expectations nearly everytime (i.e. I was told two weeks and they arrived in 1 1/2 weeks) in both performance and quality. Let's make a decision quickly and we'll make it happen.

Incidently if we decide to continue with the buy, and someone is in a major bind/has an event/racing for points championship etc., I have a set of their RR dampners that I will sell off my car (they're new) for whatever the additional cost is.

Thanks for letting us know Jim. I for one am willing to wait. I was hoping to have them for a race later this month, but if we have to wait, so be it. One race/event for any one of us is not gonna ruin the build of our cars or make us completely want to stop building them. Plus if we do cancel the order and we go to order again, which there is enough people to warrant another group buy if this one falls through, then we will have to pay more money in the end, in a sense, throwing money down the drain...

Is the only difference between the units we are getting and your RR series, is that you have the more aggressive spring rates? Anything else different on them? They are kinda tempting.... lol

They're different cartridges/valving and rates---other than that the same. Here's Ksports description-

Ksport Version RR Damper System is built specifically for road racing only. Aggressive rates and valving are chosen for maximum handling and performance with acute reaction and responsiveness. Integrated with 36 levels of damping adjustment, simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment, lightweight aluminum mounts, and pillow ball upper mounts on some applications. (Race use only.)

Damn. I guess I'll wait it out too. I am getting ancy, but it will all work out in the end. Like he said, no point in canceling and then spending more in the future for the same thing. It's a bummer. But that's the downside of us choosing a less popular vehicle for performance, It aint always easy being the cool kids.

That does suck, but I'm with everyone else and am willing to wait. I'm just glad they were nice enough to honor the original price even if we do have to wait longer.

When he says they might discontinue the Mazda kits. Does he mean all mazdas, or just the BG platform? I really hope they raise the price and not discontinue altogether. I wanted to buy a set for my millenia, and another BG set for a protege build in the near future.

Probably be the BG platform and other older less selling kits---it's a 20 year old car with a small demand---it makes sense---it's a bummer, but the alternative is DMS, MOTON, JRZ, KONI Doubles, HOT Bitz, etc which are all twice (and then some) the price...

so if they discontinue them theyll only revalve these kits from this buy, or are they still going to honor some of thier other suppliers? basically i might just buy one of the sets i was going to buy, i dont think i can wait another month, and then if they stop rebuilding them, i wouldnt even be sure if id run them....

oh and i thaught we where getting the CMZ200-KP not 160's?

That bites... i was keeping KSport in mind as backup in case the Koni setup isn't what the doctor ordered.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions---they didn't say they were going to discontinue the struts---they probably should based on sales, but I don't think they will---they've started to build the lower clevis already (or have plans to)---they just mentioned it was a consideration when their supplier went under...KSPORTS huge---selling thousands of struts a month, I doubt they would consider killing any other of their line off unless it wasn't moving and the cartridges/pillowball mounts etc are all universal, so they'll be warrantying product...

I'd double check your able to get struts before you pull out of this---I'm guessing no one in the country has a set of Ksports for a BG on the shelf---Geronimo what say you??? ive called all the places i called before, and the only set i could have got sold last week, im still calling around, dont count me out yet... but if i can get them i will need the money back... i might have leads on d2's instock tho....
