It's locked---mid June---I'll keep everyone posted. It's a bummer---I hope they don't go away completely---I can't imagine they will but who knows---I know my cost went up over $100 on the units now...

Whats so complicated about the lower mount that makes it so difficult to build? It looks like all the hundreds of other cars that use Macpherson struts, I am not sure i fully understand that one. Or do they only have one supplier for all the lower mounts?

i was kinda wondering the same thing about that, it just sounds weird if they only get the bg ones from that supplier, yet they build the others them selves. or im just misunderstanding that too...lol....

I didn't get a ton of info about it---just what you guys have seen---I'd bet they build a lot of the stuff in house and had a few items that didn't sell as much sublet out to other shops---the piece is pretty intricate---it's round with the strut ears and then threaded on the inside---has strut holes in it that are slotted/milled---it's not a one operation deal where tabs are welded to a threaded collar in a jig...I had the guy that built the pins for that tubular control arm quote them when I found out they were going to be another month and he was thinking like $100 each if I ordered 10 sets...Ksport sells them for $170 for the pair I think...

Hey Nick---thanks for considering me. The price on everything just went up across the board at Ksport---You'd be looking at $1125 plus shipping and they are 2-3 weeks out form KSPORT directly. Eric said he'd had a call on this unit already today---pretty rare/slow selling item he said...

Jim what would be the possibility of you having your lower mount sent out for duplication? if they cant do the mounts anymore could we just get the coilovers minus that?

It's a possbility---I spoke with Eric and Anthony today on another style of strut and the feeling that I got was that they were going to continue making them/BG stuff---just at a higher cost---my cost on the units (all of them) went up about $180 across the line---even at $1300-$1400 map (and they'll be lower than that) the value is still there in the product---your getting camber plates, pillowball mounts, adjustable ride height seperate from spring load, 36 clicks of adjustable dampening, cold wound coils---given the cartridges aren't double adjustable, but linear in both comp/rebound--- there's nothing that match's the quality/benefits/improvement over a stock strut housing in that range. They have double adjustable/remote canister resivoir'd struts available in the mid $2k range which is about what a set of double adjustable KONI race shocks would go for after coils/hardware and top mounts...KW wont build stuff for these---and they have a Variant 3 that's double adjustable for the low $2k range---that would be an upgrade, but they wont build it---forget about DMS/JRZ/MOTON/OHLINS etc---can't touch them for under $3k, so they've got a good nich in the market.

Small update---just got the new pricing schedule for June 2011---they had all of the BG struts GTX and GTR still listed in the catalog at about a $150 dollar increase---but they're all still listed...also noticed they had brake kits listed in the 14", 15" and 16" rotor sizes for the BG GTX cars---with 6 and 8 piston calipers. The cost on the roadrace version came down and the inverted strut bodies went up slightly---the cost on the circuit pro's (resevoir) came down quite a bit...
