AFAIK it was only the GTR which came with a viscous rear diff.
the GTX hatch and sedan did not.

I too would be interested if the BF GTX hatch had it... the same guy I got my tranny off of has a complete BF rear end that he said he would sell me if I wanted it.
okay... in the BG GTX fsm it mentions nothing about the LSD in the specifications chart... and at the top of the chart it says "BP SOHC, BP DOHC Turbo". In the GTR supplement it states "viscous limited slip differential" within the corresponding chart...
to me this says, as i had always been told, that only the GTR got the lsd.

That is true, but all of the specs are the same whether it's VLSD or not...
Also on the next 3 pages of the GTX book it shows the VLSD in great technical detail starting with the page I posted previously (p. M4-M6).
Maybe it was only for certain markets, or maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it really doesn't matter anyway because that diff is hard to find and not as good as the Miata clutch type diff. So use the Miata LSD and call it a day.
My two cents.

the calipers and rotors are the same, yes. the spindles themselves are different. same goes for the rear (obviously the spindles there are a little more different though )

90-93 miata rear diff is the same, 6". the 1.8 used a 7", same as the rx7.
as for the rear lsd in the GTX, I've seen it quoted that it does. BUT they didn't specify BF or BG. So I think the BF had an LSD while the BG was open. I could be wrong, I'm open to facts.
So we have a 6" or a 7"? And any mods need to be done to the axles?
by what I think he said the 6" 1.6L miata is the same as the protege.
Bingo! except the miata had the option of a VLSD. but that's a drop and go item (the whole diff swapped into the pro's subframe).
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.
