Nice ass FMIC btw. post sum pics of that biatch when you can.....

I am still on the goofy MX-6 SMIC, and will be until I pay off the debt on getting the car running.... then from there, let the upgrading begin.

I ordered gauges off of chris, but they are not in yet..... gonna be sweet though.

eh there is actually a fairly large differance between the cs dp and the stocker... the stocker is a 90degree elbow in about 4-5 inches and the cs is a long swooping curve, separate wastegate pipe to allow the wastegate exhaust to release further down stream... not that it would matter a ton on yours because you dont have the separate wastegate area (dont you love these technical terms?) mine is the same way but ive seen the ones that would benifit from that feature where the wastegate has its own sealed area... ill just stop rambling now because im laughing at myself trying to explain this, i can only imagin what you guys must be doing

keep up teh good work guys *thumbs up*

lol, and I followed on every word too.

Well I went to the j/y today and there was a complete 97 KIA GS with the BPO5..... since there were some bolts and other small stupid stuff like that I was missing I ganked it for 5 bux....

It did make me sad though... there was a good BP they left sitting on its side off to the side since no one had bought it... I felt bad b/c I didnt need it... I thought about getting the head for mine though... but I didn't have enough cash.

What size piping would be good for IC pipes? I forgot I still need to order these.... I have an MX-6 SMIC, but that might be getting upgraded, as the inlets/outlets are sooo small. Something ghetto like 1 and 7/8 or just under 2 inches....

I used 2.5 inch mandrels and used a modified starion intercooler with 2.5 inch inlet/outlet as an FMIC. I am very happy with the setup and it cools very well. You can also get away with 2 inch pipes.

I used a 2.5 inch pipe right off the turbo and used the stock GTX 2.5 inch pipe to the throttle body as well.

i have 2 inch off the turbo into the fmic, and 2.5 from the intercooler to the TB. my intake pipe from the turbo to vaf is the same size as the inlet on the turbo itself. it makes a wicked sound when boost starts to kick in!

So a 2.5in pipe works? Do I need any reducers? I am looking at buying a decently sized replacement and the inlets/outlets are 2.5in... should be perfect if that piping bolts onto vj20 no problem like you said.

you will have to create your own elbow off the VJ20 compressor. I used the flange that came with the stock pipe and welded it to a 2.5 inch aluminum 90 degree. I then used couplers for everything up to the intercooler ... and on the other side 2.5 inch works well because the hard pipe from the GTX is also 2.5

The inlet on the VJ20 is a different story ... it's less than 2 inches so I stuck with the stock pipe to the VAF

well I just ordered the trubendz kit to see how well that works.
                      http://www.trubendz.com/home.asp?producttype=exhaust&productfor=escort_tubing&productid=9012025&pagetype=detail#BuyNow!
Since I have the flew pipe/cat/muffler already I went with just the stainless steel tubing kit. I know its for the ZX2, but the bends do look identical to BG bends, as discussed in the other thread.

My next big issue is downpipe and fabbing a flange to weld to the pipe that bolts to the downpipe. Its a really screwy size, and I know of a machine shop locally that I may have them drill it and fab it for me. I have the tools to do it, but if a shop does it they can make sure that it is up to spec, and nothing is off.

Oh and I also picked up an awesome bar and plate SMIC to use....

18*12*3.25 thick... its one fat little fuquer..... gonna sit behind the AC condensor sleeper style. The nice thing is the pipe that goes from the cold side of the turbo to the IC will be hella short. It should have shorter pipes than most TMIC's and the bar and plate design allows for future upgrades so I can max the boost out.

I am looking at a civic 1/2 sized radiator, but the driver side radiator hose would be soooo freaking long... dunno if I wanna try that or not. I may just hold off on doing that until later.

No real updates with the car as of now... still working on gathering parts, and making the pretty/better so when it does come time to slap it all together, it should go ALOT easier.

I know its taking forever and killing me, but so long as I got stuff to do while the motor is out, I figure it will be easier.

I've got you beat on the taking forever part.

Let us know how that exhaust fits up. That would make things so much easier.

From what Protegebob has said, it just needs to be extended... I already bought 10 ft of piping to do it myself, so the adding length to it should be a non issue. Hopefully this works out. If it does... you all will be the first to see my pics and know about it.

Was protege bob talking about it having to be extended for his protege or 323? Because i have a mx3 exh on my car, and i was told that its the same legth as the 323, but its short by like a foot on the protege. IF he was tlakin about the protege than it will fit leght wise perfectly on the 323.
