I must be doing something wrong .... Mine drops to 12 psi by redline and I dont know why.

Maybe it's a leak, maybe it's the stock EGT exhaust maybe it's the ebay boost controller.

      It's bothering me.

people hold 15 psi to redline though ... I talked to some local turbo techs and they believe it's the exhaust that is too restrictive

I have 2.5" exhaust with no cat or resignator. also 2.5" intercooler piping. Still drops off at redline

The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

What about the downpipe... is it stock?

What does it drop down to?

I never have that problem even with out the Profec B. Overboosting well that is another history. BTW I have a 3 inch exhaust.

Do you have 3 inch exhaust from the turob back ... or do you have the stock downpipe?

i have the same setup....2.5" intake and exhaust (turbo back) and a FMIC and HKS SSQV, with the stock wastegate and no boost controller....

i hit 10psi by 3500ish and at about 5k if i hit WOT i will hit 15psi and stay there till redline....i have done this on 2 vj20 turbos now so i know that the turbo does NOT "run out of breath" as some people seem to think it does....

the boost gauge in my sig is a real shot of mine...

                        Its also 2.5"
Holds at 10-11 till about 5.5-6k then starts to drop till redline droping to about 8psi.

Stock downpipe. After that 3 inch.

But the turbo efficiency drops after 15 psi or maybe less. That's why I don’t push the VJ-20 beyond that.

What BOV do you run in your setup? Perhaps mine is leaking - I have the stock GTX one.

The best GTX I have seen on a dyno was running 12psi. 230HP on a conservative dyno, and a flat 230lb/ft of torque from below 3000 to over 5000 rpm. With a decent tune, 12psi is all you need, any more just kills the turbo quicker.

I don't understand the obsession with trying to run small turbos at higher and higher levels of boost???? If you want to run a lot of boost, get something like a big T3/4 hybrid, those things thrive on boost...
