Ty btw.. u all have been awesome help. ill post some vids asap its 3am and im bout to go out and do the brakes so i can drive it around and work out some of the quirks...

the turbo smokes, not riht at startup but after 10 min or so of idle, or if i start to rev it. i have a lil bit of oil on the exhaust and i think i may be gettin oil in the intercooler pipe off the turbo.. i had a lil on the side of it and at the edge of my first coupler.

all of the oil lines seem to be ok. it looks like the oil might be comin from where the hot and cold sides meet the center section or the return line at the flange.

im leakin radiator fluid from the dr. side of the and oil on the pass. side
ill post more in a while

ok wut i thouht was oil at a quick glance is really just some Power steerin fluid... and the rad. fluid is actually comin from where the hose and heater core meet and its just drippin down from there...

i blew off an IC coupler today.. and just noticed it now... stupid ebay **** i need to et this stuff welded up..

for the most part under any kind of a load im runnin lean. ive been dataloggin and then runnin the ve analyzer and its been adjustin my tables.. will that solve my issues and make it driveable on a reg. basis? cuz an afr of 17-18:1 isnt very good...

i have a question and i didnt ask you i think someone told me that you need to either take the advancing weights out of the dizzy or tack weld them down so that the megasquirt has full control over the timing curve is this true? i think i read this on the b6t forums so it may only pertain to the b6t's

            #35
yea idk anythin about it.. i think the b6 dizzy can be used on the 1.8 but idk wut the differences are.. no one else has mentioned anythin.

oh and i blew another coupler off the pipe about 2 hours after that post... this time is was at 5k in 2nd in front of a cop lol

i pulled the gtx thermostat sensor today.. it fell apart while pullin it too.. so i put the NA one in

whats everyones opinion on the good and bad if any to runnin a NA bp therm on the gtx

and can anyone help me to get the rad. fan to run on its own? i dont want to put it on a switch unless i have too shes runnin in the 200F range and that seems a lil high to me so i havnt been drivin it for 2 long at a time mayb 15 min runs tops

oh and i popped another coupler today.. so i give a big thumbs down to the option racing ebay store at this point. no lips on the pipes even tho the pic showed them and cheap couplers with no reinforcements

yeah without reinforced couplers that will happen... the ebay reinforced ones work fine though.

are you talking about the fan switch? its supposed to come on at like 210 i think. you could set up fan control using one of the spare outputs on MS... i only know how to do this on MS2 though. i used one of the IAC outputs to control the fan relay directly.

right now the fan doesnt turn on at all.. if it were usin the stock ecu the fan would come on when the thermostat reads a certain temp right?

well put the NA thermostat in to c if that was causin the fan not to run but it still wont.. i let it get up 215F and then i shut it down cuz 200 seems high but idk wut the normal operatin temps are with the turbo.. i know the NA was usually like 180 or 190 i think mayb less..i guess ill wire the fan to a switch untill i can talk to jacob about wirin the fan into the MS..

he also said there was a way to conver the engine map guage to have the ms1 read boost as well.. it has the guage but it doesnt do anythin..

yet in the megalogviewer i got it to read boost. i had to enter in a couple numbers i think but it seems to be on

Rick (hot wheels) said he has an extra sboost guage i could borrow

you dont need it to read boost... just look at the MAP gauge. anything over 100kpa is boost. 100kpa = 14.5psi

sooo 150kpa on the gauge is a little more than 7psi... etc.

the stock thermostat for the BP and the gtx is 195*. the fan switch is ~210*.

whether or not the stock fan switch works depends on how jacob wired your harness, because the wiring for it passes through the stock ecu. you need to find the wire that comes from the ecu and goes to the relay, and connect that to an output on the MS that you can have the MS switch to ground above a particular temp.

so just trace the wire back from the fuse boxs to where the stock harness was and then hook that to the ms?

ok well the the car ran fine on my way home late last night.. i logged it it was cooler out and i also adjusted my target afr's b4 analyzing.

it richened everything up pretty much and when i went out today with the new ve table it was super rich at idel but the accel and decel were better(not as lean as b4) overall the car felt like it was running better and felt like it had more power.

thing is im hittin 8psi at barely 3/4 throttle and if i go full throttle past 5k i boost up to 14+psi..

i have the over boost protection set at 161 which is like 9psi..

im not goin lean or anything but my ve table is set from 20kpa up to 149kpa.. so 14+psi i was at like 197 kpa.. so i was way off the map.
my target afr table is from 15kpa to 149kpa and 500rpm to 6000. i havnt brought the car over 5500 cept mayb once or twice

on the target afr table my settings go like this they are the same across the board left to right with 149kpa being 12.5 increasin by .4 till 60kpa. 60 and 50 are 14.1 29kpa is 14.5 and 15kpa is 14.7

my main concern right now is my boost levels and the runnin lean when just at cruisin speeds. ive just ben gettin on it at 1/2 throttle where my afr's are fine till i get up to speed then throw it in nuetral and coast so im not lean.

if i have the overboost protection set to 161kpa why am i hittin 197 when i go WOT

btw jon this is a really nice map.. idle is still a little rough but she pulls like crazy i ****in love it lol.. on my way home from the store today it was runin good enough to play with the head of a mid 90's civic si..
from about 30mph in 3rd i hammered it and put a car on him till i blew a coupler at 14.7psi... the car just fell flat on its face after that and i turned into the starbux my friend works at

is that a kill?lol we went from like 30 to mayb 60 haha

ok for some unknown reason my manifold air temp guage seems to only work sometimes.. and when its not its red and readin -40 and im super super rich

but then it startsworkin again after 15 seconds..

2 me im thinkin short or sensor

you really shouldnt be beating on it until you have a better map... i told you that fuel map would need a lot of tweaking... thats still the map jacob sent you, thats not my VE table.

i could send you mine, it would be a lot safer but you'd be too rich in boost. its good up to 20psi on the vj23.

the mat sensor problem sounds like a loose plug or a bad wire
