well, just by seeing my friends new Si kill a nissan maxima 5spd 6 times, a turbo sohc civic, pulling more than 90 in the quarter stock, i still think they're fast. not alot of wheel spin, just grip, and go.

50% of being fast is the car. the other 50% is the driver. I've beat plenty of people with much more hp from cars that are supposed to be faster than mine.

they both go to the track ritualy. the Si is a fast civic, i will give it that. im not gonna arugue what i witnessed. i think the driver is a good percentage, but you can't deny the fact of hp/weight, and the technology that eachcar. honda makes good cars, the chronies that by them, and "rice" them suk.

            It's more like 10% car, 90% driver.

              not in a drag race.

Nobody's EVER going to get a bone stock Protege to run sub 15.5. It's IMPOSSIBLE.

BUT, there are plenty of idiots who wouldn't be able to pull off a 16.3 in a bone stock Si(R)....... COUNT IT!

And ya, the new Si-Rs are a joke. You'd be lucky to get better than 16 seconds on a good day.

Wanna talk hp/weight ratio? I'm making 117whp or 138ish flywheel hp. My car's wet weight is 2350(I weighed it), minus the 50lbs I just took off my rear doors, so 2300lbs. that's 16.7lbs/hp

Si-R wet weight 2650lbs and 160hp gets 16.56lbs/hp. I'm not far off. Give me better tires and a new clutch, and I'm at least as fast as a stock Si-R. No matter who's driving.....

Ive seen a few civic si's here running high 15s stock. I dunno maybe its cuz my engine has a few bad seals and isnt making as much power as it should be, but they seem faster, and you and I GEN1GT have the same power mods. But didnt you advance your timing and pull tune your VAF?? I didn't, perhaps thats why yours is faster. My car also weighs like 2300 lbs. I need to dyno my car!

Ya, you can do all the bolt-on mods you want, and it won't necessarily mean you're much faster if it's not tuned right. I'm running 18 degrees ignition advance, plus full 2.5" exhaust from the manifold back and I dyno tuned my RX7 AFM. So I'm getting 117whp. Custom header should add at least 7whp too....

What altitude are you at?? Im at like 5280ft above sea level. So Im definately losing some power from that. A friend is opening a shop within the next few weeks w/ a dyno. So Im gonna definately try to get there and get my car dyno tuned. Ive sent all my n/a parts back tho and Im gonna put together my own turbo kit. Ive already got a VJ20 turbo now, so Im not all that worried about my performance at the moment.

We're at 258ft above sea level. The place where I drag race though, is over 700ft above sea level, on top of an escarpment.

Did you do something to take weight off your car? Because I took 150lbs off my car(mostly back seat and trunk), and I took my car to a weigh station and it weighed in at 2350 without me in it. Then next time I race though, it'll be about 2260lbs, since I have special rear racing doors which I've gutted and put in plexi-glass, as well as removing the passenger seat and door panel.

If you just want to put a car together and say, "I have such and such turbo, such and such intercooler with such and such engine management" and don't really car about the performance of your vehicle, then it doesn't really matter. But if you want your car to be running fast and running well, you need lots of dyno time. There's no way around that. There are so many places to make mistakes, and so many places where the smallest adjustment can mean big hp. Just one click of the RX7 VAF door tension got me 4hp. Every degree of ignition timing was worth 1hp. One degree of cam timing can mean 3hp. All this stuff not running in sync can mean big hp gains, or big hp losses......

do forget all wheel drive, that makes a big differences. My friends with dsm's can beat me (for a alittle while) if we go from a dead stop, then i play catch up. pro gt has all wheel drive, lx has front
