so I got an 02 protégé5 and one day while driving im assuming the linkage snapped while shifting from third. It won't release from third and stalls everytime i let out of the clutch even in neutral. I'm wondering if its a common issue and if there is a way to fix it. Any help is appreciated. Also looking for bolt on Mazda speed muffler

Welcome. Maybe you can crawl under the car and pull it out of gear directly. What condition are your engine mounts in?1990 Protege 4WD

@Me109 I have already replaced the transmission with another i found for $550. Engine mounts probably need to be replaced. The car has 185k miles on it. Clutch look like it was factory still which probably played a part in it. I kept old trans to see if its fixable. Just have no idea where to start.

So it's not linkage binding and it's still stuck in third. That's what I was getting at.1990 Protege 4WD
