The original colour of choice was the Titanium Grey Metallic from the Mazdaspeed 6, but as the work continued I was swayed from going back to dull colour and to put it in a more livelier colour of either yellow, red, blue (a pretty blue found on Toyota Tacoma) or silver with some black and red graphics on the silver. As you can see from my pix I chose red and it gets no livelier than the Mazda oem colour True Red.
My main inspiration came from one of the nicest pic I saw of m323pwr 323 gt (Audi red). I saw a side shot of it on bimmer forum, I was sold on the colour red the moment I saw it. I even used that pic as template to photoshop different styles & colour wheels, to see what work best. I also think red is a nice lively colour to spray a old school car in.
Here is m323pwr 323 gt pic I'm talking about.
My photoshop attempts. I was unable to save the picture as a jpeg file so I used a cam to take the pix.
