Didn't get a whole lot done this weekend because I had a visitor most of the weekend and they got sick from all the driving and such...
A little Wal-Mart fun!
but I did find my protege lower rear trans mount and it wasn't going to work for me this time. So I made a template of what I am going to need to cut out of steel. I used cardboard because its easy to work with and if I screw up so what lol.
Then I started into my wiring, its really not that bad this time around. I just have to remove the smaller half of the harness so I can graft the aspire starting and charging wires into it and I'll be good to go.2011 BMW 128i 6 Speed Manual -- dd

I mean I'm no tony stark... need a better paying job first B)
I finished off figuring the wiring out so I have all the 626 sensors, electronic speedo, and cluster setup. :D
Here is how I ran it from the bay around the inside of the fender and through the hole for the speaker wire to the driver's door:
I have to extend a few wires that go to the dash, then I can finally bolt the fender back in place:
I am not going to miss having that jumpy cable speedometer, that's for sure!
I'll be hooking up the remainder of the wiring tomorrow after work, then maybe i'll hook up the y-pipe and fire it up... maybe...2011 BMW 128i 6 Speed Manual -- dd

Well I managed to get all the wiring into the cabin of the car and separated out the wires to the instrument cluster. Then I test fit the 626 cluster and well that was where it ended for the night.... my first snag, the cluster is too wide to fit in the aspire dash properly. Looks like I'm going to need an MX-3 GS cluster... and I need to find a pinout chart of the cluster plugs too, its not as easy to read the print board on it as it is the MX-3 one and the aspire one.
I also lost half of my shrink wrap somehow, so I could not get the engine harness wires going so I could attempt to fire it up... I hope I didn't close it up in the fender, that stuff is expensive...2011 BMW 128i 6 Speed Manual -- dd

well I have all my wiring up and it should fire, but its not, I am thinking bad grounds because it doesn't always want to crank. I am going to go through and strip all the surfaces down to bare metal and add a couple straps to see if that cures it.
I also trimmed up my dash and dash trim to get the 626 cluster to fit!
this makes me happy because now I won't have to buy a different cluster!
I also went yarding today and found two EGT 7 spokes with decent summer tires! $20 a piece! Now I just need to find two more and start stripping them down to paint gloss black and polish the lip up! I really like the rims in person and they are lighter than my 14" steelies! I'm also going to buy a set of 205-55-15's for it so the speedo will be correct and maybe I'll have decent traction!2011 BMW 128i 6 Speed Manual -- dd
