Several.... first, it didn't blow up. Second, as I mentioned earlier (not a big deal...) I got recorded at about 171 WHP. Third, I found out why I wasn't able to produce more. Ever since I dropped in a hybrid turbo, I've been challenged with tweaking everything to deal with the difference. I think we have it figured out that the spring in the BOV is now not stiff enough. That's why it was releasing prematurely. I've got the adjustment screw cranked down, but, even though I'm only pushing just over 11 lbs of boost, it's giving way when the gas pedal is floored and I'm approaching 5k on the tach. With the VJ-14, I ran just over 15 lbs of boost but the BOV held fine with the adjustment screw NOT tightened all the way down. I have a hard time conceptualizing what people keep telling me about the idea that I'm pushing more volume even though my boost pressure is lower. I have to admit, I have a hard time with that... LOL.

Anyway, once I have a chance to dismantle my BOV and go to the hardware store to find a spring with a little more backbone, I think I can start 'upping" the pressure again. I'd like to get back to about 15 lbs. of boost IF AND ONLY IF I can do it safely.

Add to that, I hope to have crazycanadian help me to rework my exhaust at some point and I think I might someday hit around 200 WHP which is my goal. I don't want to go much more than that as I believe I will be in the neighborhood of starting to over-tax the strength of the parts and start breaking things.

Besides, I'm not racing this car at the track. It's my grocery-getter and I only occasionally like to shame BMW M5s and such....

A synapse? Please tell me more. I am not familiar with this term outside of my pre-med classes in college.

Aaaah! Got it. Well, hopefully, this weekend I'll have the chance to do some work on my BOV. I'm confident that I'll make some progress. Can't wait. I'll try taking some pics.

You can usually stiffen a BOV spring a little bit by just sticking some washers in there to compress it further. Not sure if that will work with the BOV you have for sure though.

Well, before I do anything else, I'm ready to take it in and have it "professionally" tuned. I figure that like most members, I have some good parts on the car but I need them to work together better. So, we'll see what comes about after that. Also, I have a new radiator that I'm going to try soon, too. I still have to gather more parts before swapping it in since I want to add two water temp gauges while I'm at it. I want to insert one in the upper radiator hose and one in the lower radiator hose so that I can compare the difference. I also have a RHD 2-gauge pillar pod for the 2 gauges.

Well, just checking in because..... just because. I haven't been able to work on the GT lately because it's in PUllman, Washington with my youngest son. Can you believe it? Am I nuts or what? LOL.

We needed his car for a while to check it out because even after a major engine rebuild, it's using some oil somewhere, somwhow. I have enjoyed having it around because it's a little different (1989 Mazda MX-6GT.... the turbo 2.2L MX-6). However, the more I drive it, the more I miss my car!

I actually have been getting work done on vehicles, just not my GT. Yesterday we finally had some decent weather so I started installing some of the backlog of parts for my conversion van (the closest I'll ever get to an RV). I did the front brakes (rotors, calipers, pads, lines) plus the bearings (out and inner with new seals), new front shocks and the Energy Suspension components for the front sway bar. In a couple of weekends I hope to do the same to the rear.

So, I'm dreaming about getting my car back when my son is done with spring semester in about three weeks. I have plenty of projects around the house and on other cars, but I can't stop thinking about what I still want to do to my car. I surfed around for some old pics and ran into the first pic of my car when I brought it home for the first time. Enjoy.

I should be doing work around the house but I keep getting distracted. Anyway, I found pictures that I thought I lost the last time my computer went down. Fortunately, I was able to save them on my external HD. Here's a pic of both my 323's. I had just bought the gray GT and the guys came over and helped me swap all the good parts from the maroon LX onto the GT. We basically turned the LX back into a normal car before selling it. I loved the fac that all that money and all those parts weren't lost because the second project car I got was basically the same as far as the body and the suspension goes.
