It looks to be the Drivers side you replaced? If so, how did you get it to drop in from the top?, there is no access to it from anywhere, unless you take off the whole plate they are mounted to.

Or did you drill it out tap it and run a stud in with some lock-tite? This may be the route I'll go, taking the whole plate off seems a bit further than I need to go.

i didnt drop it in from the top i had the whole sub frame out because of another bolt that broke on me. so i flipped it upside down and drilled it out and welded a new bolt in. you can do that from underneathe the car if you want. it is much more sturdy than any lock tight setup you put on there.

I'll have to do it from underneath, to pull out the subframe I'd have to pull the motor out and that is still in the car. As for welding in the new ones I don't think anyone I know has a portable welder. I'll have to tap them run some studs with locktite temporarily, and then I can tack them in at my buddys' shop.

I had a similar problem, I used a grinder to get the stud flush, used a center punch to mark center. Drilled out to a certain size, I don't remember. Tapped out the hole. Threaded in a grade 8 bolt with washer in place.

That is the way I still might go, any problems with the bolts loosening since you fixed it?

No problems, It has been that way since 2001. I just recently pulled the tranny to install my new clutch and flywheel posted in the topics below. I didn't have any problems pulling or reinstalling.

you dont need to pull the motor to pull the subframe. i pulled it out of my car once when the motor was still in it. i pulled it out fixed the problem i had and put it back in in about 6 hours.

I am going to hafta do something similar to what rusty suggested, I gotta get my car back on the road, and this is the only major holdup I have.

Unless there are any better ideas this will be it.

If I had access to all the tools where my car sits I would have had it done 2 weeks ago. As you know cars never cooperate as to where they are going to break down.

Sorry, if I sounded a little huffy, just got home from 12 hour shift.

In the process I will install a new 50 p.

Mine is a 1.9, runs off the timing belt. When I had my gt, all I ran was water pump and alternator. Much easier to delete power steering and a/c on that. Just take the belt off and rip everything out. 1.9 and spi is a lot different! You have to creat your own routings depending on the accessory(s) removed. All my accessories are removed, started another exterior project so I haven't finished my bracket yet.

Hmmmm. Well I would not say too much about those motors considering this is about mazda drivetrains.

actually this is an a/c delete thread in the ford escort section so if I wanna talk about my 1.9 I will!
