^^ That's how I feel about the awd festiva swap... I hope I'm right lol. I'm still trying to finish up the mounting frame so I can get you good pics of the route I went.

^ Nice! where are you mounting the struts to? I can't wait to start on mine, but I don't think there will be any updates until spring...

The Factory aspire struts are the correct type, I just rotated the bottom end 90 degrees. I'll try and get some pics of what I mean. you can use mitsubishi mirage struts too. you'll have to add your strut hat though. The strut location is not critical to the suspension geometry so you could mount them just about anywhere they fit.

If you are going ls1, i would use 2x3 box steel or some thick dom tubing for the rear subframe. A bone stock ls1 will turn our car into pretzels. Ive owned a high hp ls1 car and it cracked my windsheild without subframe connectors.any extra frame rigidity would help.

            I'm buying parts i don't need, With money I don't have, To impress people I don't know.

The Idea of the L33 V8 has been canceled. Its overpowered for what I'm using it for and there is no way I'm spending $2,000+ on just drivetrain parts. So its back with the BP and a tube chassis. I'm aiming for something like this:

Today I will be picking up a Miata 5spd transmission ($60) So far I have spent $160 for a complete rear end and transmission, you can't beat that! In a few days I will get a little bit more organized and start a new official thread. I'm very exited for this!

^ Did you see the price of the 5spd transmission that I'm picking up?

oh yeah that would make it better. you could always upgrade down the road. Have you looked into a miata front suspension setup?

I read somewhere about a race team KL swapping a Miata. Used a KL, RX-7 bellhousing and Miata transmission. But seeing he price you paid for the Miata stuff, my idea can be forgotten

I made some progress today. I got a 5spd transmission from a Miata ($60!) and finished tearing up the car for the most part. I don't like typing too much I like pics so here are some

This is how it started today

                        Got this far

                        Where I want the engine/transmission

where the shift knob is going to sit

I wonder if you couldn't relocate that shifter knob with some cutting and fabbing.

I don't see why not. Jim Pierce moved his shifter back about 10" IIRC.

it'd be different with a fwd car though...
