just out of curiousity, how hard would it be to dump a BPT into a 323 GT?

Derick from CS did it in his gtx, but it is pretty hard. The mounts are diffrent I think. Well I know the tranny mounts diffrently and thats the majority of the mounts.
Too bad I have AWD and you don't!

there is a guide to putting it in on mazda323performance.com I remeber something about grinding of a tab on the transmition or engine and needing to grind the the inside of the bellhousing and using a suzuki swift clutch.

wonder how worth it it would be to do this swap. I might be picking one up for cheap and was considering doing the swap into that since my 94 is running just fine and has such low mileage

^^ Having driven derricks car, I can attest to the Hella' Fun factor of this swap once completed. But the physical part of the swap is a pain.

Ya, but his is AWD. The gt model would only be FWD, so he would have to convert it to handle a G-series. I think you can use the protege spindles but that means changing the rims as of the different lug pattern.

so, from what I am getting from all the responses is that it is a pain in the ass, but would be awesome to complete with patience. Right?

How many mounts goto the engine? One....
You swap the BPT mount for the B6T/B6D one. I don't think you even need to notch the mounting holes. Intake and i/c plumbing, exhaust downpipe. Use the B6T ECU and sensors, 4-wire automatic Protege TPS. Move the solenoids on the firewall so they don't interfere with the manifold... My buddy Todd (TAS) has done it twice now.

AWD is tougher b/c it seems like the framerail is closer to the pulleys.
