any reason in particular to go that route?

Because it's a cheap way to raise compression that works well on BP4Ws. I could probably do 80 thou if i wanted to get greedy.

I remember that guy that did it on his miata with stock internals, and some bolt ons, and IIRC he was making like 170whp

i knew people have done 40 tho. but i haven't heard of anything more than that before.

makes me wonder if anyone has done that to the FS motor. i want a huge jump in compression in my p5. thing gets horrible mpg right now :/

Yeah, Quinn. 172whp, and it sounds awesome.

He went a bit farther than i'm willing to go, though. Basically, he had a VVT bottom end (10:1 compression to start), head work, valvetrain, cams, and ITBs.

I'm going to skip the cams and ITBs probably, and won't bother with a VVT bottom end until i blow this one up.

Yeah, i'd be looking at more like a 90% effort of that build.

I can find you a Miata. NB1s are stupid cheap right now.

The funniest part is that most of those parts that were on that red one you saw are making their way to this car, too. :D

Head shave, I/H/E, and whatever that easy intake cam swap is should be cheap/easy/good enough, I'd imagine.

My roommate wants an NB1 pretty badly, I'd rather have an NA6 to throw the BPD in and then not have to deal with emissions.

Also those rims are pretty nice.

Looks like my care package from 949Racing should be here on Friday. BP5A ecu acquired. New front hubs ordered should be here Saturday.

Trying to swap my NA Singular Motorsports hood louver panels for NB flavor.

Starting to get cautiously excited. Pre-registered for the entire season of local region's autox.

BP5A = JDM y0 motor in NB. Slightly more aggressive intake cam, 4-1 header, no emissions, 7500rpm redline. PNP into USDM cars, makes a couple more ponies.

This way i can ditch all the emissions crap before i go megasquirt, and help out the short gearing a little bit. And can do end game exhaust now without cat, instead of having to do this in two stages.

                            Win win.

Oh no ****, that sounds like the jam.

I really want to do some Team Mouse witchcraft to stuff the BPD in a Miata or FC and keep the stock ECU.

BP5A ECU sounds like a good plan.
