I'm really regretting having dumped all this money into the Escort. Trying to sell parts back to some of the cheapest/brokest communities i've ever seen in my life is/is going to be a nightmare.

Never again. Miatas and Jeeps from here on out.

Miatas are getting to that same state. As the price of the car drops people are less and less willing to spend any real money on parts. It's not even a car community issue it's a general people issue. My wife has a hard time understanding spending more on parts and upkeep of my GTX, then the cost of it. I here the comment.. "You could just buy another car for the cost of X" =/

Well, at least more than one person is building a Miata. Nobody is doing jack **** with a KL, and i'm pretty sure nobody is going to want all the crazy **** i'm going to try to unload for a BG chassis, either.

Really People!! Buying another car is really the solution! Hell no!!

Keeping on top of the issues as the develop is the best solution. A Car payment, on a car, is all the same, unless it's warranty.

You are out time in the shop all the same, some parts and labor may not be covered, and you may or may not have a monthly payment.

After being a member on this website I shall never have a car payment again. My last new car was a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2004. I may never own another new vehicle again. My current daily beater is now my 1988 323 Hatchback. It has short of 300k miles. Most of all it needs now is a body-paint work. She runs well. All works!! I have owned 3 Escort GT's, 1 BG Protege, and 1 BF Gt. This community right here is in my opinion the best and I will include also the 323GTX mailing list to the webs two leading sources for information and parts. Become a sponsor and you can really see things hit your way. I'm no mechanic, but sure can drive them into the dirt!

True that. It seems from my limited view that the BG chassis doesn't have as strong an aftermarket support as say the Miata which does mean less people are building BGs compared to Miata. Plus well it is a Miata :D.

Well from some in my case looking at the gtAe bumpers and my wife looking at the 1k price point and then seeing me look at full Miata for a 1k. So she has a point :D. I will admit there always is a point when the cost of a part for a car whether it be for fun or for repair(motor/trans comes to mind), is near the cost of just a whole car. At that point you really have to weight the options.

your only hope is to find someone as crazy as you with money to spend, so good luck with that.

all of my fancy parts are getting thrown in with the wagon when it sells because I know they'd just sit around in my garage forever otherwise.

I alllllllllmost want to find a BG 323 just so i can throw my suspension on something and see what it felt like, dammit.

Then just dump a BP in it and play in FSP/SMF anyways and get my ass kicked, but have fun doing it.

But then, i have Miatas, and the MX6. So what's the point?

What you can do is put all those nice parts into a big box, mail them to me :D. I will admit when I first saw your build thread on CR, I was shock at the level of build for the escort, sorry to hear that it never really panned out.

Oh it ran. It was done save for tuning. Then it blew up at idle because my ****tarded idiot buddy put the cam caps on in the wrong order and i was too ****ing stupid to double check his work.

Oh well. C'est la vie. At least i learned things.

If you're doing KL things, i currently have the valve cover/catch can setup up for sale on PT. I didn't post here because i forgot to take a picture with my social security number, my firstborn child, address, and phone number in front of the parts. You know, because that somehow has any bearing on whether or not you'll get screwed when you send me payment via Paypal (who will take your side if i don't ship your parts, even if i DON'T take a picture with a bunch of useless information on it).

So many things were done to that car to get it optimized for KL use, that if i have to reverse it all, i'm just going to get a new chassis anyways and bleh.

Agreed. You know 1990s are about to 25 years old which means you could just pick up a BG based GTX.
