Glad to hear it's not fully dead Ryan, I am going to be up in IL before the summer is out. I have to get up there and sell the Miata before they send it to the junkyard in August. So I will definitely make a trip up and say hey! Remember your always welcome at my house dude. You know how nice it is here!

so, now that the bearing material is gone, you're just going to run it right on the crank and journals? I'd have thought as soon as the bearing material was showing up, you'd have yanked the engine, flipped'er over, and took the crank/block to a shop to get line honed, put in new bearings (check the wrist pins too) and put it back in. Sort of a hassle, but a lot less of a hassle than having to get an entire engine again....

Its not knocking & considering i don't know exactly where its coming from- im not about to tear it to shreds.
shortly im not entirely sure i'll be reusing a FE3 block if this one's shot.

did i mention its currently my only transport??

I have a Garrett T3 .63 exhaust and .60 compressor side, 5 bolt if you are in need. Just rebuilt it. I'm probably going to run an HX35 instead.

send some oil off to be analysed if you want, they'll tell you what the metal is and you can figure out what parts use that specific metal. It's what they do with $100,000+ machining equiptment once a week to predict future break downs.
