any details yet about whats going on inside your tranny Shades?

i'm not going to do a full write up until its actually done, since this is kind of all speculation at this point. heres what i know so far:

Parts (that i have bought/am buying):

-adapter kit from NZ (plate, front/rear mounts, crossmember, bracket for upper mount, clutch slave and hose, other small odds and ends)
-custom clutch disc (toyota center hub, mazda-size friction material)
-1999 camry v6 tranny, shifter, cables (this is "the same" as an open diff mr2 turbo tranny, but with different gear ratios and the shift linkage is setup for FWD)
-1994 MR2 viscous lsd, drivers side axle stub, passenger side intermediate shaft
-1991 (ST185) Celica alltrac front axles

Custom stuff i need to do/make:
-bracket to bolt MR2 intermediate shaft to BP block
-mods to tranny outlined on Mazform
-mount shifter assembly, route cables through firewall. i may need to get a shifter assembly from a different car, the camry one is awfully tall.
-figure out what i want to do for the speedo
-lots of other stuff that i'm sure i will discover along the way

No sir... not yet. I'm just gonna flush this tranny, cause it was working when I pulled it off the road for the turbo. So we're gonna flush it with auto tranny fluid cause it's got detergent in it... then if it survives, I'm gonna throw some Syncromesh to try.

Got me a Kia tranny now went over the border to pick it up... just for back up.

flushing isnt going to solve the problem of big chunks of gear teeth... they had to have broken for a reason....

                nope..

it would be like putting tungsten gears in a lego gearbox.

the side load on the gears push the shafts apart causing bearing failure and the case to flex enough to let the teeth sheer off the gear from poor contact pattern.

I know, but I don't have time to swap one in I wanna finish my turbo setup. It was running when I took her off the road, the only reason why I found the chunks was cause I just wanted to switch to a different lube.

Don't worry, once I get that turbo running I'll get scared and swap the Kia one in.
