decided i don't like the shade of red the one rim is, so i'm going to buy another color of red...it's way too dark, almost like it has a hint of deep purple in there almost...hard to explain and the camera doesn't show it properly.



i think i meant to buy the red engine paint, but i have the VHT paint...either way it was only $5 for the 2 cans lol...so no major loss.

these are the rims i eventually want to get, but i'm just using what i have for now...

dude lose the wheel weights and use stick on ones if you want to keep the rim lips clean. it will look way better that way.

yea these wheels are just temp/spares lol, plus i don't think spending another $50 to have the rims re-balanced when they already are

i'm going for a brighter red like the Drag DR-16s shown in the pic...these are waaaay to dark, darker than the pin striping (yea that noticeable lol).

put a basecoat of white down on the rims before the red. red is a very transparent colour because of the small pigment. the red will apear brighter because of it. it will help with the pinstripe colour match

are you suggesting i paint the rims white before i paint em red?

The color match of my escorts red, the first coating comes out a deep magenta, so I know what your talking about with the purplish tint.

yes exactly, try it out on a scrap piece of metal and see how it looks. should take you less coats of red as well to cover it up

awesome thanks for the tip, i used a medium/light primer on them first, but i guess it was too dark lol.

actually use a light yellow, the white will make it look to pink

thanks guys. been up at my parents visiting and internet is slower than balls here haha.

been trying to get in contact with UPS tho...i've got a autometer boost gauge & a vj-20 downpipe flange that are trying to be delivered but i want to schedule a pick up.

so the next things on my to do list are:

-make sure my rear brakes are within spec,
-paint the calipers silver, then adjust em,
-then get under the car with a large pry bar to try to bend the right swaybar mount bracket into alignment...ugh...
-then paint some more wheels and the rear end will be done for now

ya no doubt haha, i was meaning to send you a PM but i completely forgot dude lol.

anyways, my room mate forwarded the invoice number and all that jazz, so its being held til tuesday but i owe $28 i wonder how that added up....
