you'll be fine. you just need to learn to drive the car kindly. & if you have the ability. tear the diff out & weld up the diff pin. that'll prevent alot of issues & likely prolong the life of the trans extensively if not indefinitely until you upgrade turbos---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

yes! its a simple & effective way to prolong the weakest point in our transmissions. (differential) you weld the outside of the pin holding the spider gears to the outside of the diff casing
doing this prevents it from destroying the weak retention roll pin(not even a solid roll pin)
By either method:
1. sliding out & bending slightly taking out the case during diff rotation & demolishing the spider gears
2. ovaling out the differential casing & blowing the spider gears causing shrapnel to blow out the transmission case.
its the cheapest & most effective method we have. next best option is a full LSD---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

I have some experience with welding (pinning as we call it in ja) the diff. As i have done so (my mechanic) on two rear wheel drive cars i had before. Under hard acceleration in my car with the b8 i feel something kinda grinding feels like my axles is there any known weak points with that and will i have to reinforce that at a later date before i boost?

your not welding the diff. itself (not the gears as you would in a RWD application)
there is a solid pin that the spider gears ride on that runs through the diff itself (you can see the pin if you look through the axle hole)
your welding it to the outside of the diff casing.
i wish i had the picture saved on this hard-drive to better explain.
you'll know right away when you pull the diff out what im talking about.---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

Depends on the power you want to make, and when you want to make it lol
stock turbo crap and hybrids = spools under 2,000rpm, dies around 6,000rpm....
people have lots of luck with larger turbos, especially the turbine size, as most larger turbos are at least a .63 a/r...some holsets are around .86 meaning a lot larger and slower on the spool, but will leave lots of power for the rest of the rpm range.-Jack

My engine is ~ a measly b8 (SOHC 1800) 100hp and i know weight is my enemy so wats a good build without touching a whole lot. Personally ive been considering just a few things and would really like the gurus help because 1) Dont want to blow up 2) Dont want to buy bad stuff So hows this for a list?
1) Hybrid turbo (love the idea of ~2k - 6k Spool)
2) FMIC
3) 350> injectors
4)Fuel pump
5) Wastegate??? (do i need this?)
Whats the best way to make an exhaust manifold for my setup? Can i convert mine to fit a turbo?

Trust me when I say this, do a bp swap first. Then buy gtx stuff that is bolt on. If you build a manifold for the Sohc its going to be $$$. Then you need an ecu....sol because there was never an ecu for a Sohc turbo. So there again is $$$. Bp swap plus gtx turbo buts and ecu and you'll be sitting around 180-200 whp.1993 Protege LX-Midnight's shadow SOLD

I didn't realize you were talking about the b8...need to swap that out or get the BP head bolted on.
What clutch do you have right now? Stock F-series? If so it'll start slipping once you've added another 30-40hp because of the torque from the turbo.
I'd look into getting a BP running then go turbo...otherwise it'd be a lot of effort on the b8...
Also I don't see any reason why the GTX ECU cannot control the b8 engine as the engine harnesses are the same minus a few pins...but still...very limited with your options because it's all going to be custom lol...NOTHING will swap over other than the cylinder head BP-B8.-Jack
