So i'm digging through what i need to fix up the whole downpipe situation here.

I found this flange http://www.ebay.ca/itm/T3-5-Bolt-3-0...vxp=mtr&_uhb=1 and I think it's the one you mentioned but I was just wondering if you had any advice or recommendations as far as the DP flange goes here.

I also found this for my WG, http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Steel-Externa...vxp=mtr&_uhb=1

I figured I could run a three inch 90 degree bend up to the waste gate, then face another five or so inch 45 degree bend and vent the wastegate to atmo. Then run just a regular down pipe like the CS one I have.

Ian, my garage is absolutely embarrassing. Theres a completely dissasembled K8 floating around, lifters and piston heads just chilling out, another K8 Assembled, two manual and an auto trans chilling out, a bunch of stupid MX-3 parts I'll never use and all of my turbo crap just unceremoniously scattered everywhere. Just dumb haha.

Ok, so the big box of stuff I needed came in the mail :D

So 38mm Turbonetics EWG(along with messy DP), BP26 exhaust manifold w/ flush t3 adaptor plate, M11 Airesearch t3 Super 60, bronze powdercoated BP valve cover, Go Fast Bits manual boost controller, behind it some shiny looking 460cc RX7 injectors and in the back the Mishimoto front mount intercooler I will be using. I've had the injectors, FMIC and MBC for a while but I didn't have pictures.

On the right is the M11 next to my Corksport GT2871rs/VJ11 hybrid turbo. It's got a lovely dent on the front of a very very ghetto turbine flange. But ghetto is awesome so I'm not too upset.

Anyway the hybrid has stupid shaft play and I was quoted $650-1200+ to rebuild it so I decided to go with a different turbo.

The previous owner of the t3 told me that it was oil cooled, but what is this I found on the turbo?

Appears to be a water jacket. I have no idea how to confirm that this turbo is watercooled or what but it's really weird that someone would just use the oil cooling and not the water cooling. I'm tempted to open it up and take a look inside but it's not like to be much exciting so theres probably no point. Anyone got any ideas about that? I've got water cooling lines, banjo bolt and fitting, that should fit on them but it's just weird to me the waterjacket would be ignored.

Got a spare BP timing cover for if/when I chop up my ugly one to look at my pretty cam gears. Also got a speed sensor and cable from pick n pull. Fifteen bucks which makes me happy enough, pulled it from a protege LX but I think it's supposed to work fine with my BP and 92-93 Mazda MX3 RS cluster(that I"m still trying to find).

Got a BP dipstick too since I was rolling with a B6 one.

Decided to try some gear oil I hadn't seen anyone else try before. Motul 75w90, 5 litres cost me less then 5L of the GM synchromesh I was gonna buy since Redline Mt90 is a PITA to get around here. Gonna see how it is.

Did some more research and I think I might do the divorced waste gate mod with my GTX turbo manifold since I've got a spare. Or try to find a t3 flanged BP manifold that has a divorced one but that's proving to be easier said then done. I'm considering doing a vband downpipe too since I can maybe get some for cheap through my work.

I appreciate that offer Ryan, I'll let you know if I do need a hand in that department. My welder guy out here went on some three week bender and is MIA right now. Shame too, good welder and he'd do just about any weld job for a case of beer, which is nice when your folks own a liquor store.

Not sure what I want to do yet though, don't really want to use this DP setup. The wastegate vent goes back into the down pipe about fourteen inches earlier then what I would have if I'd done it myself. I might run it for a little while when I get going with boost but I'll chop of the wastegate portion and just vento to atmo instead.

I'm at least a month away from that right now, all of the time I was gonna spend on this car this summer has gone into the other MX-3 which has been a massive PITA.

That is a water feed btw. And for the price of that rebuild you might as well get a new precision turbo.

Yeah that turbo isn't really worth rebuilding to me, I think I'll just run this t3 for a bit then down the road pick up a nice ball bearing replacement. The M11 has a bit of shaft play so I'll just monitor it until it needs to be replaced.

Super 60 is a big turbo. Plenty of hp potential.

Oh it is, for sure, but I'd like to get something newer, maybe a garret super 60 with ball bearing cartridge instead. Will see how she goes though.

I JUST remembered this from the mx-3.com forum, seeing as I can't find a manifold I think I might try this out, not sure how the BP compares to the Evo 8 engine, I think the BP is stretched out about an inch and a half from a B5 so I'm not sure how it would go. Hopefully my welder friend resurfaces and I can get someone in the states to order a comparable manifold t3 flanged and then have him take care of it for me.

Evo 8 manifold compared to B6/B5 flange:

Not quite a match, going to require some chopping!

The scary bit, just destroyed an evo manifold:

I then made slices on the inner 2 runners and bent them in. I had to cut the two outer and remove 1cm of length each side.

                          Tacked mock up:

Almost done now, I'll maybe finish going round the welds tomorrow.

So that's how you make an Evo manifold fit an mx-3

So i ran in to a weird problem, my transmission mount is from an mx3 with the f series transmission and now I currently have it setup with a g series one. The problem is, the battery tray won't bolt down, only the two on the actual mount cab be used because the other two are just too low for the bolts to each so now my battery won't fit with my strut bat attached. I'm almost certain this is the same battery tray I was using before so I don't know why I can't get it to fit when my old setup ran fine with the same battery, tray, strut bar and mount.

You need to have all mounts setup for the g-series transmission I believe, unless this is your setup and I'm reading things wrong lol

Jack, I found three different tranny mounts in the parts pile today so i think I'll mix and match to see what works here.

So fellas, I recently talked to a childhood friend who's now a professional welder who has offered to weld me a turbo manifold aaaand now I'm looking to do this as cheap as possible because that's just my style. Threadstone sells this kit here for $320ish

Looking for 3/8" thick steel with 1.5" nominal schedule and an outside diameter of 1.98" and inside diameter of 1.60". Anyone know where I can snag some of the required stuff on the cheap? I can grab the collector section off of ebay easily enough I think and I've got the wastegate flange on my ugly DP that I can just chop off and get him to weld on. I can grab the BP exhaust flange too from ebay too. Otherwise thoguh, I'm out of ideas. Nothing locally to help me out but I believe there is a site called "ace-something" that you guys use eh?
