Before you get all high and mighty, I've seen some "REAL mechanics" do some garbage work, including some pretty epic bottom end failures.

what per say defines a "real mechanic"?

          being paid for it?

building a car that does x.xxx in the 1/4 mile?

building a car that has lasted 5 years and STILL runs flawless?

ok so at this point im drunk and startin ****, but the high and mighty attitude of people calling out the so called high and might bugs me.

we are here to learn and share! now where are the god dam legos!

Well, you'll have to wait for Mr. REAL Mechanic to weigh in on that one.

As for the Legos, I'd start here: http://www.lego.com/

nah legos now days are weak. i miss the days of technics, when i could build a 3 speed co2 powered racer or, or have a competition between coworkers to see who can get the furthest on one rubberband oooh ooor a crawler that can haul a brick, a trash can and a bucket full of candy down an office hallway

*runs off to get technics set from closet*

Dude, the Technics supercar that was mid-engine, 4wd, with a working V-8 and transmission was quite possibly the coolest thing ever. One of my uncles is an architect and used to get me all of the really complicated Technics sets when I was a kid, so I had that, the huge truck/crane thing that operated pneumatically, all kinds of ridiculous stuff.

My dad pointed out to me recently that my cars now are like my Lego sets then- they're put together once the right way, and that only lasts a little while before I take them apart again to improve them.

                Edit: This one!

                  Yes!

I had the truck/crain thingy too! I guess its just a natural progression to a modular car platform from legos. lol

And of course, the natural progression is from Brickset.com to eBay...

Holy crap, the Space Shuttle is epic!

My brother took apart all my sets and mixed them all together... my parents made me share and because of that I have no complete sets. Damnit!
