            the point is this....

94-97 intake cam for mild gain
99-00 cams and lifters for mild gain+
02 stuff if you like to engineer youre own system controls for little gain

I am sure they make aftermarket cams for the miata. Why not go aftermarket and get even more gain?

Anyone know how much higher the Miata compression is?
Or could you get more to go with aftermarket again like wesico pistons or something that yeilds 11:1?
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.

because oem miata cams can probably be had at a junkyard for under 100 bucks. Webcam, Toda, or anyone else selling aftermarket cams for the B series is going to be a lot more expensive.

to me, it's still worth it for some big TODA cams, but nobody here ever sinks money into NA B series motors, because they're all boring

If you want to regrind your cams you should contact me. I can regrind both intake and exhaust cams for $200US.

I've specialised in KL engines (Mazda V6 2.5L) and have done one B6 engine (1.6L Miata) now I'm doing BP cams.

I can yield you at least 10whp on your BP and still make your engine idle at 750rpms.

With the KL engine is was able to produce 14whp more than the stock 03 cams and 7whp more than the ZE cams and my engine idled at 700-750rpms. I've sold about 14 sets to Probetalk members. With the B6 engine my grind produces 13whp more with a little help on the cam gears.

I just purchased a BP engine and I'm planning on producing at least 140whp and still be very streetable on my 323LX.
                    92 323 with BP DOHC
ported/polished head, regrinded cams, JUN adjustable cam gears, ported AFM, ported/knife edged intake manifold.

                    N/A project dropped.

Once again, with as mild as the cams are on a regular BP, getting 10whp more is "weak". You should be looking for gains of 15-20 whp throughout the majority of the powerband. Of course, tuning is what it all comes down to. A decent intake and exhaust would combine with the cams well.

FWIW, the B6 cams are hotter than the BP cams.

With a cam with more duration you'll gain power above 5000rpms. You cannot gain 15-20whp throughout the majority of the power band, only at higher rpms.

I stated "at least" 10whp, I'm conservative not like most other companies that state the impossible.

I cant stand when companies claim 20 extra hp, when it gives like 2.
I saw a dual radiator fan swap for a chevy silerado at an Auto Zone, and it claimed to add 30 hp.

swapping in 2 fans making 30 hp, I just started laughing at the thought.

                              Let's put it this way....

10 years ago, Rod Millen built 2 fully streetable, street legal 200 whp NA BPs that didn't have much more than nice big cams, some mild headwork, more compression, good intake and exhaust systems, and a boatload of tuning...

you can be happy with 140 whp if you want....i'd rather not be.
