of course i know the gtr tranny won't fit. i've already located a source for a 1.8L ES tranny, and they said they had everything for a manual conversion. i'm currently in austin, so it'll be a while before i can get it. thanks for confirming me.

shipping cost 350... and i estimate i need another 1200 to get it in decent working order. (ie. pipping, i/c, exhaust, fuel pump, etc) i would like the FSM for my car because it would show me some wiring diagrams that i might need.

as for the injectors, i'm not a '16yr-old flaming pissant'. heh. the 370cc injectors you're talking about are for the gtx. the gtr FSM says the injectors should be inspected to operate between 105-151cc / 15sec .... which equates to 420-604 cc injectors.... that's astronomical...! .

i think a standalone won't be necessary... if the engine will run with everything in the front clip (excl. fuel pump), i don't see why i couldn't get it to run in my car... assuming everything bolts on nicely. so what if i can't get the rear defrosters to work... they don't work on my car anways... remember, i have an entire front half of a car to work with. something corksport probably doesn't have access to. i just need to figure out what the inputs and outputs are for the ecu, and do some splicing and dicing, mixing and matching...

we did that sr20 swap with a front clip, and everything we needed came on it. it was nearly plug and play.

as someone famous once said... "And knowing is half the battle, GI JOE!" ...bump.

something that happened to fall from the sky:

If your gonna do all that splicing, why don't you just get a Haltech and wire that up the 1st time...

if you have the front of a car.... just cut it in half and yours also and just weld yours to it... no bolting just weld.. it'll work I promise you

Quiet honestly, I won't call using the 4wd 323 tranny in a fwd pro impossible. If you fab a blocking plate to cover up the output shaft opening on the tranny (going to the rear), you should be just fine. The reliability of the 4wd tranny once it's pushing all the power to just the front wheels is another question though.

Tim you HAVE to get in contact with Edwin (TheMan), you have an INVALUABLE source of information practically just down the road.

for all practical purposes TheMan is a living Protege FSM for all gens lol

and it's REAL, USEFUL information too!!!

The reason I say for him to use a stand alone is because he said that he wanted 300 hp. I figure if he has complete control over the engine he can easily make this hp and at the same time not be vague on anything that is going on inside of his motor.

I understand your in school but you just spent 2400 bucks on the clip .. yo that money is not from thin air. I am pretty sure you can save up another grand or so. As a matter of fact there is the tech2 out and a lot of miata guys run this set up and you could get a start up map from one of those guys.

I am going to run either a tech 2 or a haltech, not sure which one. I know if I run the haltech I could get help from Derrick with tunning. I want to do this when I upgrade my turbo to a T3 spooler. (hehehe) ..

But whatever works for you in the begining. It will be pretty obviouse what you will need to do to get everything transfered over from the clip to the 2nd gen. Just look in the clip. hehe.. And you can't use the 1.5 harness... It will be useless to you ...

I cotemplated putting a GTX motor in my 2nd gen but after speaking to Derrick I changed my mind and am doing what he advised .. put a stock BP in the car with the vj20 turbo.. I really want a t3 in the future though ..

But definetly good luck with the swap.. I have a FSM for the 2nd gen.. so if you need a couple pages scanned on specific things let me know...

                      Later

Bruce, How much HP are you trying to push with your BP? How much PSI?

yes, i will plan on contacting theMAN when i get back intown, which won't be for a couple of weeks. the clip will be in my garage monday (11/17). but don't get your hopes up, i still have to see for myself what horrors could be waiting for me... oh, and theMAN, do you happen to drive a silver '01 with an offset racing stripe? j/w. i've seen one around.

300hp to the flywheel won't be difficult, this article claims +70hp with just intake and exhaust in a gtr, setting it at 280bhp (~285hp?) ( Linky ). but, i'm not complaining... we'll see...mmmh.

yes, i realize i need to upgrade to a better fuel managment system if i plan on hitting the 300whp barrier...(wheel hp > flywheel hp, just for the newbies ) i think the gtr stock ecu is good up until about 18psi, beyond that, bolts start to fly... (like that scene, in fast and the furious, where the floor-board bolts start flying in the eclipse as a result of too much nitrous . correct me if i'm wrong, but i just don't see the correlation there... i guess i'm still just a n00b. lol. ) theory has it that beyond the 300whp barrier... civics, sentras, and protege's start walking cobras and vipers and vettes, oh my.

back on earth, however, i need to start ordering stuff for the swap. to begin with, recommendations for a clutch and fuel pump would be nice. i was thinking of using an ACT 4 or 6-pack clutch (i like 4, since it's cheaper. ), and walbro 255 lhp pump for a 3rd gen rx7, just wondering if anything fits better. i'm open to suggestions and to anywhere i can get them for cheap.

i just want to wreak havoc on the honda nation... defying concepts, rules, and reason.

btw, does anyone have any mazda parts dealer hookup/discounts? might need a lot of maintenence. if not, it's AUTOZONE. bump.

i think edwin would kill himself first before putting on any kind of racing stripe on his car
