well a mate sent me some measurements of a e153 gearbox and looks like the transfer will be half way into the block so 4wd would be a no go, also tried a evo 1-3 gearbox and could work but would have to have the engine on a angle so the back cyl head would nearly be straight up and would need a dry sump... and evo 5+gearbox doesn't work to. so i give up ,far to many gearbox at mine now

That comes as no surprise... it's a tight enough fit to a bpt.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

Look at the Rav 4 gear box. Celica guys have used that to fit V6's. Smaller cast iron center diff. Couple other differences but pretty much the same trans.

Yeah, the yota V6, don't think I haven't considered it. It's a stout engine from what I've heard.

Would that box even be worth it? I seem to remember reading they're quite weak.

Ah, yes aftermarket support. Almost forgot what that was. Also, I tried looking for one for sale a while ago. They're not easy to find.
