Looks great, but I prefer my shiny welds. What color/texture is it?

lol. im just doing this for rust prevention. I dont want surface rust to make these things look ugly..... It was supposed to be flat blank, but its actually crinkle black.

sat i am going to test fit them and the endlinks as well to finalize that design and start getting some together to sell

Jim, when did you get those spacers sent out?

Geronimo, I'll measure the endlinks and compare them to the measurements of those endlinks.

The spacers didn't go out with fedex---they wanted $12 bucks vs. the 3 stamps the mail man wanted---they left Monday---I hope you get them tomorrow for the weekend...

alright. hopefully they arrive tomorrow while im at the NY auto show. Ill be heading down to my girlfriends tomorrow night for the weekend and will be doing the work down there. If they don't arrive i can always use those spacers you sent for a temporary fix.

Now what would be the difference of putting my ball joint on top of the plate instead of the original placement on the bottom? would it give my front end a little bit of a lift?

Nope---just lower the arm down the thickness of the balljoint.

Which would help geometry on a lower than normal car, right?

Jim, how would you suggest going about rust prevention, but still keeping your pretty welds? I was thinking about hand polishing these things then just hitting them with 4-5 coats of clear. Any better ideas?

Or if i decide to do them in a color, but don't have time/space/money to do the whole powdercoating thing... what would be the strongest/best way to paint these things? Base coat with your color, then lots and lots of clearcoat for strength?

Nope-geometry won't change---just the arm in relation to the balljoint. Not sure about the clearcoat or anything else---might be worth a try though. We shoot them with a zinc primer and then rattle can to color.

I think I am totally going to powdercoat these with the high-gloss clear so I can look at the pretty welds.

If you don't clear coat them Ben, you should coat them with por-15

Looking good matt! Anxiously awaiting those measurments. I should have my arms real soon :-)

I don't understand the fascination with POR-15 (Paint Over Rust) on new non rusty components. Is there something I'm missing (durability, hardness, adhesion, etc)?

I feel a metal etching primer and a few coats of a name brand industrial spray paint would be more than adequate if you're looking to get them done quick and cheap. That may be my route if the platers want crazy money these days with the price of precious metals through the roof and all.

                              POR-15 is hella overrated.

Is that how my rears were finished?

Would that hold up to rocks and stuff without chipping without the clear?

She kindof wants them.... bright metallic "anodized look" purple.
