okay - GTX injectors it is. I noticed that once I put in my stock injectors my idle is lower, but it hunts around quite a bit.

Also my valvetrain ticking has still not gone away ... granted I haven't been running the car for long at all - is that the lifters still having to lubricate?

Sound's like to much fuel to me.

The VAF is not calabrated right for bigger injector's is my next guess.

I have an RX7 VAF that is installed and I can play around with. Which way should I tune it for larger injectors - a stiffer flap. or softer - I am thinking stiffer

Stiffer would lean it out, softer would richen it up. Make sure all your other injector wireing is correct first.

how much tunability can you achieve with the RX7 VAF at low and high RPMs? Does it max out under full boost?

I'd be careful with that, if you lean out idle to be perfect... I guarantee you'd be lean up top.

The RX-7 VAF is the same size externaly and internaly as the GTX VAF. The electronics inside them are exactly the same part numbers, even the stock VAF has the same electronics inside, it comes down to how big the door and openings are and how tight the spring is set...

You will not max out the RX-7 VAF on a VJ-20. You will just need to tune accordingly.

Lex, Is this how you removed the injector resistor box??

                    Thanks, Chris

Alright everyone - the turbo is running !!

First I got all my wiring working properly and got the car idling with the stock NA injectors. Today, I switched to the GTX injectors and KEPT the injector resistor box! The car starts up everytime, and the it's great on boost! First gear is gone in a blur, and I can spin my tires in second gear if I am under boost and punch it - it's almost scary to give it full throttle - especially with the suspension setup (stock for now) I have

I tuned my RX-7 VAF to run a bit richer (loosened the spring a bit) and the car idles at 800 rpm nicely, but you can smell it's idling rich. At WOT, it hits close to 10 psi and my (rather useless) A/F gauge tells me it is running rich. There is no pinging I can hear from the engine - and I tried loading the engine at low RPM and was listening for it. I run 92 or 94 octane. I think that overall I am running rich if anything. I will have the car dynoed in a little while. Until then I feel safe with my setup. Is there a reason I should not be safe with this setup?

Once again, I kept the injector resistor box and I don't see a problem with it. Chris, how do you know you are running lean because of it?

Anyways, she works and I will take some pictures and post them. Thank you everyone for all your help. I will of course update as things progress. For now, I have to get my exhaust welded properly, fix a leaky valve cover, and fix a leaky transmission from a sensor plug. I am also putting in a suspension within the next couple of weeks.

Finally, she needs a good wash

On the injector resistor box topic - here is another note - the injectors run on solenoids - so they are open or closed, right? No half-way open?

In this case, they either open or don't at all - so if they are opening with a resistor box in there, there should be no problem running it there ... Can someone please verify this?

We checked the plugs and they were white, cleaned them off, let it run idleing for no more then 10 minutes checked them again and were white. The car is running lean weather under boost or not. The gtx doesnt use an injector resistor box and between that and the knock sencor there is no differences between the harnesses so we figured thats what it was. are you useing the bp ecu or gtx? Im using the gtx ecu so maby thats it???

I'm using the N/A ECU and a slightly "tuned" RX-7 VAF. My car def runs rich at idle - the A/F gauge is pinned in the rich zone and you can smell it.

                                What VAF are you using?
