You don't have to but I'm pretty sure you will need to run LSD axles.

        whoa there guys

you need to replace the diff with a FWD diff. the AWD diff is a crazy combined front/center diff unit which definitely cant be used for FWD.

          Uh, yeah, what he says...
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

how is everyone doing with this?

do we have any new pics from anyone showing "clearance" before putting the drivetrain in?

what is everyone planning on doing with clutch setups? what would be a good recommendation for 350-400whp with the hybrid clutch setup?

i picked up the stock for my mounts today things are coming together with my toyota build. needs more info from you guys on how you doing with these setups!

Posted all this in the other threads but thought i'd throw them in here now that i've found this thread.

i bought a aw11 MR2 clutch. 225mm. fits perfect in BP NA flywheel. its a 4 puck sprung center cerametallic and i already have a pressure plate with increased clamp. looking to run about 350hp+

OK everyone. do not buy an e58 levin lsd as it will not fit. they also have different gears in them.. so you can only essentially use the shafts

one on left is 4 spider camry diff and one on right is Levin viscous LSD.

so what LSD will fit? the 3SGTE MR2 one? and is there a difference between that and the 3SGE model?

quaife, kaaz and cusco all llist the same part number for the 3sgte sw20 mr2 and the 4agze aw11 mr2/ levin ae92/101 etc.

wtf mate? what LSD's have people on here got for their camry boxes?

repost of my question in the other thread

so you used the mr2 clutch AND disc instead of the bp clutch with toyota truck disc?

i have a lightened BP flywheel, toyota mr2 clutch disc (from supercharged AW11) and BP clutch cover.

u can use any toyota disc that is 225mm with 21 splines and a spline diameter of 29mm. late 80's/ early 90's hilux's (what u guys call a pick up) came with a same sized clutch in some models, but i preferred the mr2 performance option.

and unlike in the how to thread, i didnt have to machine down the flywheel or grind the bell housing to make it fit.... must be due to the lightened flywheel design.

so if I were to order a setup tonight online for my gtr build what company would you recommend? I wanna order from a proven solution cannot afford extra down time, this is one of the last things I need to get my daily driver back on the road.

                            clutchmasters?
                            act?
                            spec?
                            TRD?

                            what did everyone else use?

need it to hold at least 350whp

Well, I was running an ACT HD setup with my g-series that was holding fine at 343whp.

With the E153, I am re-using the pressure plate and went with a sprung 6-puck ACT disc for some extra headroom in case I decide to go for more hp now that the trans can actually hold it.

If I ever get my car finished, I'll let you know how it is...

do you think that setup will be streetable or will my leg fall off?

                                so I need a 1988 MR2 4A-GZE supercharged sprung 6-puck clutch disc, or is the aw11 a different year?
