We found a "Ferrari Red" approved tool to remove the back of the car---sawzall's are truly universal!

Ever wonder where the spare tire goes on a ferrari? On the pre-runner style rear bumper!

I here you can only go 97mph on the donut though..

Nice work, wouldn't want that transmission getting the brunt of a hit!

No kidding, I'm nervous just having it in my shop!
The team principal/manager was at the shop yesterday and saw the escort carbon fiber hatch and asked what they cost---when I told him I could have the Ferrari hatch replicated for about $3 grand he laughed---I guess the Ferrari hatch costs a bit more than that!!!

The rear crash bar got rabbit ears...ur hoodpin mounts!

By the way it's new years day and while your at home nursing your hangover, I'm at the shop slaving away...

Got a factory Ferrari 430 bolt-in cage cheap if any one needs one! It would just feel weird giving it to the scrap guy...

This rear piece is getting intricate---it supports the wing (which generates over 1000lbs of downforce) and captures the hatch while protecting/strengthening the chassis.

My carbon fiber escort doors are gonna' be lighter than the Ferrari's doors---and their windows don't work either!

Looking great Jim... Sorry I'm not around this week to help out. It'll be great when it's all done.

I am so happy to see a ferrari driven properly. If I had a ferarri, it probably wouldnt have dented wheels and hopefully not a dented fender but it damn sure would be driven just as ferrari engineered it for.

Excellent project and I hope to see more updates!!!
I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.

Ferrari was nice enough to weld in some threaded aluminum platforms (in the Challenge cars) to locate the cage mounts...We made some slighlty thicker plates using templates from the factory cage to meet reg's.

Everything starts with the hoop---a short/wide/squatty one at that...Kind of boring really!

No they work with a different grade of carbon and a different process...probably cost more than $3000 for the hatch alone---much less the mold. My guys couldn't get it done in time anyways...

People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. But there's one group that everyone agrees is made up of the most extreme, the most daring, and absolutely craziest people in racing - rally racers."
