Stepping back a bit, I had the AWD cable shifter mounted as such:

Stock console wouldn't work anymore, the shifter sits too high. So I made this out of fiberglass, and wrapped it in pleather:

It needs some refining, I am going to add a nice cast aluminum ring around the shift boot, and I left enough space for some gauges if I need. I'm not happy with the way I wrapped it, I'll probably redo it but its much better than an exposed shifter for now!

        Fiberglass rocks!

Thanks! I will be attending the Mid America Capri Gathering in Rensselaer, Indiana on July 10th and will probably be in McHenry Illinois the following week if you'd like to see the car in person

Great job! I'm planning an AWD conversion too, but between two almost identical 626's (Long story short: The FWD is way too rusted to be fixed easily or quickly or cheaply; however it escaped the a-retentive emissions regulations imposed on the post-facelift AWD and such a conversion would require a similar amount of fabrication anyway) This is an inspiring thread

The rear subframe(s) look identical to those in the GD, except the non-RWD frame seems to have different tank mounting point.

You didn't have any clearance issues with the central tunnel? In GD the tunnel narrows to a point where it's tough to fit a 3" exhaust.

If you're going for custom driveshafts, do you plan to use flanges on the inner CV? It was such a bitch job to remove the engine and transmission on mine, I'm very tempted to go for it.

I was able to run stock BF GTX front axles with no issues. If I could run a flanged axle like in the rear, that'd be great but I dont have the cash for custom axles.

The GTXR2 has made a 1100 mile trip with some hiccups but no major issues, I'm out in Illinois at the moment, headed another 900 miles home in the next week or so.

Good news though, I won me another trophy Here's a pic from the MACG with my trophy from 2 years ago. I'll get some more pics!
