Yeah I considered that, but time is a factor and these local places don't stock anything for these cars.(except maybe a t-stat gasket lol) Plus my protege entire life only has 92k slave is good and still looks pretty good

anyone consider the thought that the B6 sits further right in the bay than the BP because its narrower?
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

Nope cross member sits in same place, attaches on tranny the same. Motor mount is made longer to compensate for the smaller block side.

Well this sucks. My passenger axel won't stay in the tranny I guess because the carrier bearing doesn't bolt up. If I could get it together enough to drive a short distance I could get it modified to work. Anyway the damn spedo-gear is stuck and can't get it off to fill it with fluid. Wish I would have gotten this loose before I put the tranny in. I tried putting an axel nut on it and prying but I've broken 2 snap-on screwdrivers, I have tried hooking the speedo cable up and trying to pull it straight up. Anyone have any tips for a stubborn one?

*Edit* also is there another way I can add fluid?

get a chisel, and a hammer, and try to rotate it in place. after you break the corrosion, you can then fit a locking pliers (vise-grip) onto it, and move it back and forth to get it out of the hole.

I talked to a shop about this problem I had one time, and he said the most consistent method is to use the hammer/chisel. He's tried heating, but with the aluminum case, it dissipates really fast, and it's hard to get a lot of other tools in there.

or, you could put the engine on the hoist, take off the upper tranny mount, and the crossmember, and just lower the whole engine as far as you can, before hitting the crank pulley on the other side, just to give you a little bit more room...

Okay well I have drove it around the driveway and it works, bit of squeaking but I think it is the brakes from sitting and it's been raining for days. Anyway my shifter is really hard to move around and doesn't move to all the gears without a good amount of force and is hard to get back out of the gear. It goes into 3rd the easiest. Any ideas to help me with this? ANyway it is not gringing and **** like the F-series I think the throw-out bearing was installed wrong when I bought the car. It wasn't on the fork correctly when I removed it, Also I took the black cover off my F-series and 5th gear is ****ed, theirs these little clips broke, and some metal material sitting there, and the big nuts on the gears are goughed and such. Thanks to anyone that replies in advance, hopefully you guys can help me get the shifter right and everything should work okay so I can drive it to the shop and get the passenger axel modified so I can bolt the carrier bearing to the block.

Thanks man, I'm not sure how I got it off lol, I went back out and pried on it with my last snap-on screwdriver and didn't feel anything, then I climbed underneath the car and pushed up on the axel nut threaded to the spedo-gear and it slid right out lmao, makes no sense.

Anybody have ideas or thoughts of something to try for the shifter?
I don't know much about these shifters, I've put trannies in a few others like these, 97 escort 2.0 sohc, 94 escort 1.9 sohc, and 90 protege. But have yet to experience anything like this with the shifters, the shifter never(In the 1,030 miles I drove it before the tranny went out) really did move as well as it should but also it wasn't this bad.

Well I have been doing a lot of searching and apparentally the F-series shift -linkage is different from the G-series. Anyone know which parts are different Do you think the protege linkages will work on the mx-3? Do you think I could just get by with switching the rods that run underneath the car to the tranny and it will work/less binding. I thought the linkages were different when I had to adjust the control rod to bolt to the tranny. Please help me with your facts/ideas thanks in adavance.

Okay what all would I need to swap is what I'm asking. Just the 2 black rods that bolt to the tranny or the entire shifter assembly. Also where can I buy one of those Nyloil shifter linkage bushing kits for a G-series shifter?

You should just need the Linkage that goes from the bottom of the shifter to the trans. If you need the other part then you need to drop the whole shifter assembly.
