The big nose has the crank pulley with the plate. Its the two piece crank pulley...

Pumer, I know it is very strange, I got a 91 Scort and its suppose to have the small nose crank.

From what I remember 93 and above were big nose, unless the engine was swappwd, which thats what i Zinc was done to mine.

damn thanx for all the info psiturbo yea i dont think the egt engine was ever swaped since i owned it in 2004 only got swapped over to the protege only thing i can think of is the guy who did my work gave my engine etc away to a friend of his to be na whil i was waiting for my turbo build lol STeve aka tuboproto beware and stay away from i swear i hate tweekers man

It is very strange about your engine, that is why I mark my crankshaft, nothing big deal.

At least when I get the block back can check in some hidden area, to me 3/4 of machine shops are crooks.


Just pray the crank pulley does not crack in half...

Like my car, how the hell I have big nose crank, Who knows?

Do not get discouraged, I used to have a 323 1.6 sohc and that thing was like a lawnmower, gasoline and thats it.

its cool im just happey now i know cause i was thinking i had a big nose lol but then remember i didnt need to take the crank bolt outt to redo the timimng belt lol never discourage just now i know lol

my block got tossed into the oven over the week, and came out looking like this:







Threw it in the spin blaster for about 20 min and came out with this:








Also got the head torn apart today:

idk what you are smoking when you get your information. the big nose crank was out in 91.5 some 91s had a small nose and others had a big nose.

pirate the engine looks very nice. i wish my school had the machines yours does. i would have done this while my car was torn apart in the shop

yeah, its real nice that i get to do almost everything except the crank balancing and a couple other misc things in house myself.

and im not sure what im going to do with it. was thinking about possibly parting it out but its still up in the air.
