Thanks. Got the interior pretty much buttoned up tonight. Still need to convert the passenger door for the BOSE stuff, and install the glove box. Then it will be perfect. I lost probably 20lbs worth of sound deadening, wiring and HVAC stuff. I kept the blower motor and heater core for those chilly days, but completely ditched A/C, 100%. I wish I would have kept everything in a box to weigh, but some has already gone out with the garbage. I have a growing pile of scrap metal though! Either way, the overall goal is to weigh less than my brothers lightened and supercharged 1990 Miata, and keep up with him even though my motor is stock.

Installed SPL nonsense, tightened the rest of the bolts on the arms, and put the subframe back in. Also pulled the sway bar and RLCAs to replace the ball joints, and installed the diff into the subframe. Hopefully I can get the ball joints done in the next few days and get the rear all put back together this week.

Took the radiator out of the XJ, it cracked, so I'm hoping the radiator shop can fix it for cheap. 4x4 are so expensive if you don't want them to break on you.

gotta take one to get the bent lip replaced (it'll still hold air, but since these are supposed to be my nice street wheels...), but they were basically a steal for $355. now to figure out if I need spacers and what size- they're 15x8 +23 but they sit just about perfect, I'll have to see what happens when I get tires on them and they're on the car with the suspension compressed.

not my first choice, but I do like them.

installed the RLCAs, brakes, ES sway bar bushings, and sway bar today.

tomorrow will be driveshaft, exhaust, e-brake cables, and go over all the bolts to make sure everything is tight.

Driveshaft and exhaust are back on, e-brake cables routed, and balljoint grease fittings and cotter pins are in.

Still need to replace a bleeder screw on the DR caliper and bleed the brakes, grease the balljoints, align the suspension arms, and that should be it for the rear.

Stuff I still need to do: change oil, wire reverse lights, bleed clutch (again), install new tie rods and spacers, replace the cluster lights, bleed the power steering, and add license plate lights... I think that's it?

Got the fuel system swapped on the 99. One of three possible reasons made a full transplant necessary... California emissions crap (Cali title, prob Cali car originally) Auto vs 5-speed (less likely) 99 vs 2000 (again unlikely)

Either way, the two were completely different and I had to do it.

Also swapped in my complete front and rear subframes, converted a power steering rack to manual, installed the engine and transmission, installed the shifter, layed out the engine harness to loom it up, and threw the Rota's on it. Now I need to do exhaust, fluids, tighten the body panels, extend 4 pigtails, and find a CAS and a hood for the thing, as well as fabricate radiator mounts, and radiator hoses.

I'd like to drive it on the 4th of July... So I gotta buckle down and get it done.

                    Getting close.

can you use a 1.6 CAS? (I'm guessing no...)

                      ===

done a bunch of stuff, haven't felt like typing it out.

rear suspension is all set minus the alignment, brakes are bled, and rear of the car is back on the ground.

still fighting the clutch, it won't disengage properly. replaced the slave and spent like four hours in the past week trying to bleed the system, so I'm going to try some other **** the next time I go work on the car. could be that the master is junk, could be the return spring failing, could be just that the clutch pedal needs to be adjusted properly. no idea. this **** is infuriating.

replaced the instrument cluster lights with regular 194s instead of LEDs so that they actually work now.

new tie rods are in and hopefully the alignment isn't too ****ed- apparently S14 inners are a bit longer and with the PBM spacers I had to spin the inners all the way in to get the length right. if it's too far off, I'll order some S13 inners until I get knuckles. while I was at it I replaced the two hard lines on the back of the steering rack- apparently we smashed one of them when we were pulling the motor and while it didn't leak, it was basically crimped at the fitting. that was why when I'd spin the wheel to counter mid-drift the power steering would jam up- the fluid simply couldn't get through fast enough.

gotta change the oil, dick with the clutch some more, and pull the lower part of the exhaust manifold so I can hammer the flange some more, then put it on the ground so I can do some other stuff.

Yeah. It sits on the cam gear cover portion of the valve cover. The intake cam gear has a nub and two numbs 180 degrees from each other. Its some sort of magnetic hall effect sensor.
