This car will be so sick

    Comment

started in on the front chassis wiring!!!

nightmare of wires. but easy when you have another harness hanging around.

pulled out the automatic crap running into the engine bay. Set the harness for a ignition switch instead of having the wires jumpered. or a clutch switch.

i have a handful of pictures just like this in my collection of copper car photo's. fun it is not! but a spare harness is always a good thing.

well. along the lines....... i decided to wire my harness for power locks......... i don't really care for power windows.... and i don't need power mirrors.
i figure im going to throw a couple of extra powers around & redo the headlight system while im at it.

                      couple small updates!!!

the chassis harness has been finished! (last weekend)
Intercooler now has mounting tabs on it! it will be mounted tomorrow.
Yet another revised A/C mounting bracket has been put in for water-jet cutting. along with 2 rear strut tower plates to stiffen/create rear caps & aid in having mounting points for the rollcage.

Purchased an Ebay coilover kit to install on the front of the car. also purchased 2 coilover helper springs/ 2 eibach ERS spring seats. Far from my ideal setup.... but it'll get the car on the road.
so the front will be assembled as properly as any ebay kit truely can be (unknown spring rate )
BUT!!!! on a positive note. i can dial the camber plates back allowing a proper alignment. as of now there is severe positive camber in order to clear the strut perch to body.

Looking good. I would vist summitracing.com and get some different spring rates with some QA1 7in springs. Probably a 300 front 250 rear. More than likely, you have 450 / 350.

Unless that is what you were looking for.

And go ahead and get this monster running!

i can't imagine there would be a spring rate difference. Front/rear are not labeled. sure would be mighty stupid of them.
ideally i would like to have different spring rates. but a proper coilover system will fill that need.

get the spring rates/ lenghts you want, and jb weld the sleeves to the strut. 3/4 proper.

It's hard to tell in the pic, but if there's a height difference the taller of the bunch will be #350, and the shorter ones will be #450...either way they'll be close to that lol. I'm running the #350s up front with some new 10" Eibach #200 in the rear and it's working nicely so far using the OEM weld for the spring perch for the sleeve so rest on (oem perch has been chopped).

Progress is progress tho man, I did the same thing to get my car on the road til I couldn't stand the ride quality anymore LOL

Jack AFAIK the springs are all identical height. 350# would be reasonable. 400 im sure will suck. but i'll deal with it.
After installing the sphericals...i could tell i needed stiffer front springs VS the ~198# front H&R mx3's(which will be going up for sale btw)

                                Well here's yesterday's progress:
Shift linkage is officially in... its nice to shift through the gears! a bit notchy without fluid in it yet.

Knocked off the center dust caps on the front struts. Then chopped off the spring perch's & proceeded to checkout fitment.

Added tabs from the lower radiator support to mount the intercooler. still need to cut them at the green line & round the edges (tore my shirt on those bastards already)
