          will they lower or raise my compression or lower it, and what is better for an N/A motor for performance.

                only if it was a stroker rod, or do they just use the stock lenth rods with the stroker crankshaft?

                  The thicker rods might reduce your power ever so slightly, like a couple of hp, because of the increased rotational mass. But you'll definitely want them in your engine once you start boosting.

                        if your getting the arp head studs, they are the same for the 1.6 and 1.8 miata , get them on ebay i paid like 110 or 115 shipped....

                            Ok! now I'm working on my new head. Question: what did any one who has done their head gasket use to clean the carbon off the head and ports? Did you use a dremel tool or what? I have a dremel and also some engine part cleaner, do I need an air gun to blow out the shavings? Help please, I don't want to screw this up! What dremel head did you use?

                              You should use an air gun and like this nylon bristle thing. I'm sure someone can chime in on what its really called but you clean the head with that and it doesn't affect the surface of the block.

                                are you rebuilding the cylinder head? you can have a machine shop put it in the parts washer.

                                if not, be careful what chemicals and products you use to clean the ports with, don't use anything that could ruin the valve seals.

                                if you plug the ports you can probably use a wire brush and brake cleaner for the outside...but for the inside of the ports you can use a rag and some laquer thinner, just keep it away from the valve seals.
