Amazing work and quality. Doing it right the first time, and spending the money where it needs to be! If I was the customer I would be itching to get into it and drive it.

I know the front subframes hook to the body completely differently, but we might get lucky and have a bolt hole in the right spot. Or close enough to make a small bracket to make it fit.

I will try to fit it on my 4wd, when I have mine. Then we will know for sure how close we are! I already told Jim I want him to produce one for the 4wd, so if we can get enough interest, I am sure we are in business.

Thanks again Jim, here is another idea I have:

It keeps the suspension from deforming the body underload. If you put one wheel on a ramp and the other front wheel on the ground open your door and you will see what I mean

Or, yo could go the PROPER way, and do a full cage, which goes from the dash bar through the firewall, to the strut towers, which are braced, and forward t the other bracing...... Of course, it tends to be a bit more doolers when going that route...

The miata guys use braces like those called "frog arms". The are supposed to help chassis rigidity greatly, and from what I have read they have great reviews. I think you can find them for other popular cars as well.

Interesting looking brace---I've seen them welded on to the front of rallycars before---I wonder how effective it is bolted on...

We doubled up the impact portion of the skidplate today---we save weight this way over a 1/4" thick piece and someone once told me it's stronger because it's layered...

Jim- the bolt-in ones for the Miata are quite effective at minimizing cowl shake. I think I'd prefer one more like that than the one posted above, though to be honest I don't know how much difference in strength there would be.

                          Miata arms for reference:

I've seen'em for the AE86 too. I think if you're talking a fully stitch-welded car, with a full cage that passes through the firewall, that brace would be completely useless except as added ballast.

But for a car that does NOT have that kind of structural rigidity, It'll definitely help, since it ties the cabin tub to the front a little better.

I know that the front brace will not fit, that's not the point, I want to know how close we are, to see if I can send measurements to Jim and get one produced if there isn't a 4wd nearby.

As for the front fender brace, basically, in the way that the strut towers flex inward and outward under extreme loads they also flex forward and backward. This brace connects the strut tower to the unibody offering the same benefits of a strut tower bar except for the other direction.

Well guys, I'm sad to say that the rally escort is now officially done (at least my part) and has left the building. I was sad to see it go---I pulled it up on the trailer yesterday, helped strap it down---handed the customer his final receipt and watched it drive away...It'll get finished over the rest of the year by the customer and another prep shop/paint shop. It was a sad day indeed...When it's finished and runs it's first race I'll post photo's of it and results...now maybe I can get some work done on my own car!
