I peered out from the castle window and looked over the splendor of ROTM county. Yes, twas' a much simpler time back then. Peasants would go about their postings, and I, the mod, would rule over them with an iron fist.

Got a call from Chuck today, he's excited about getting into the Escort soon... Hopefully he loves the car as much as WE love our cars!!

OK---The cars finished and it's first event is this weekend in Blythe, CA---DesertStorm--- www.Desertstormrally.com . You can go to the site over the weekend and get live updates on timing/scoring. The owner/drivers name is Chuck Wilson (olddirtyracing.com) and he's a new rally driver so we're not looking for him to win stages just yet, but get lot's of seat time and learn his new race car. His back-up car (see blacky's back thread) is nearly done as well, but hopefully he won't need it!!! Here's a photo of the car with fresh paint.

No kidding---we've darn near finished his second car before the first even debuted.

He just finished the first day of Desert Storm---5th in Group 2 out of 11 entries. They said for the first couple of stages he was just cruising/limited his top speed to 70mph and the co-driver said that when he got into the throttle it felt fast/like a competitive rallycar. The 4th place car was also an escort---a ZX2!!! Tomorrow he'll turn it up a bit---I'd look for him to finish in the top half of the field. Great job so far!!! No scratch's/dents!!!

He finished the second day!!! The first day nationally he was 5th---4th in our regional battle and then 6th today. Stages were rough and he took it easy---he'll be in for the season long battle and hopefully a championship contender by mid-season...No dents or scratch's---only some light prep and suspension/ecu tuning for the next event. I'll post up some pics/video when available. My Tacoma finsihed 5th overall in it's maiden voyage---a couple other cars/trucks we've built all finished---no DNF's/crashes this weekend...Can't ask for much more than that the first event of the year!

We had a good time at the rally and Chuck (the owner/driver) LOVES the car. It's much easier to drive then his rally pick-up he totalled at Prescott or the Toyota FX-16 Corolla (a car I had built in '03) he totalled at Desert Storm a year ago. I've got to give it to him for getting back on that horse time and time again. He must feel very safe in the cars to have walked away for 3 serious crashes and continue to get go for it... (I nearly destroyed the truck in Reno a couple of years ago, running head on into a car sized boulder)

Here's another project we took in...an old Group B rally MG Metro deal---we're updating the chassis/cage to the newer standards...piece of work/history...
