Did you get it rebuilt? Did you source a new one? You said you were saving up a couple days ago...

or did you just reinstall your old blown turbo again?

I have another VJ23, I'm saving for either a t3/t4 combo, an evo twin scroll, or a garret solution. Too many of these turbos are going out the window nowadays and I don't want to be stuck with this situation again. I'll keep looking around to see if anybody can get parts to rebuild this VJ23, the shaft is mint just it coughs up oil like somebody exposoded to radiation on the show 24 coughs up blood :o

Take the politics out of my build thread. Thank you.

I got the intake completely on, fluids in, started the car and the engine purred perfectly. Ticked loud as hell for a good five minutes, then the HLAs got quiet and smooth. The bit of dribbled oil on the exhaust manifold burned off quick enough. Then, it died. Again. It sounds as if a cylinder or two aren't firing, either lack of spark or lack of fuel. I'll do some more investigating tomorrow. I suspect something to do with the injectors since there are new leads and a new distributer. I don't suspect spark plugs, the car was running fine for a good fifteen minutes. The only real variable item here would be fuel... maybe the ignition coil?

Why not pull them out and take a look? They're usually a good clue as to what's going on.

Done anything involving the fuel system? Say.. oh, replacing the fuel pump (zipties) and changing the wiring?

Is the transfer pump still working? If you need to, pull the fuel hose off before the filter and check to see that fuel is coming out of the line. Work your way backwards as needed.

Some here might say you should smoke while doing this. That's up to you.

Do some poking around before you just blindly hack up other things trying to replace them.

I just installed new NKG iridium plugs.

The fuel pump was upgraded in response to this issue.

Sadly, the issue still happens on a full tank of gas. Although its possible the transfer pump gave out (like the corroded on on my old GTX) I don't see that being the cause of the problem.

I'm thinking because of how clogged the original fuel filter was and the carbon buildups in the intake tracts, the injectors could be clogged. How common is it for imports, and these cars, to get clogged injectors?

I have no clue how to respond. I wouldn't mount the gauges on the top of the dash, maybe in the glove box. I'm not a fan of the interior.

Well, I found the system causing the stutering. It's something to do with the fuel pump, again. The car runs like **** with it plugged in (idle + revved up), but as soon as I unplug the connector, it idles perfectly for 10-20s before running out of gas. Plug it back in, instantly runs like ****. I grabbed the wrong voltmeter yesterday (the broken one) so I'll do some more poking around today. I can think of three causes behind this

                      1) bad wiring job or broken wires
                      2) too much pressure created by the new pump and the regulator needs changing
                      3) the pump is sucking up more power from the weak battery and the spark system doesn't have enough power to fire properly.

I think I have a gauge kicking around somewhere that I can hook up in the fuel system, I'll have to rummage around the garage. Toodles
