yeah, I thought of that, too, but I won't be needing to do anything now. A buddy just offered me some good money for the supercharger when he heard I bought it, so I flipped it and made a bit of money. After thinking everything over, I thought I should be fixing the stuff on my car before making it more powerful. I can always buy another blower and build a kit another time.

Ok, well, I have made up my mind on what I'm going to do.

I have a 100% rust free 323 shell sitting at my grandpa's house, and I think it would make a better car than my current daily driver 323. The thing is, the shell is just that. A shell. But I now plan on swapping all the stuff over from my daily driver to the rust free shell. And while it's all apart, I plan on stripping the shell down to bare metal, and seam welding the entire chassis, and then painting it. I also plan on either powdercoating all the suspension stuff or coating it all with anti rust coatings. I also plan on putting all new undercoating on under the car, and use dynamat in the car before reassembling everything. I plan on having the MX3 recaros reupholstered, as well as the rear seat. I then want to install new A pillar trim, as mine are missing.

Some things that are still up in the air are:

engine rebuild? maybe just leave it, or maybe go Fe3. Depends on finances.

a new set of wheels. I want BBS wheels from a VW, but they are pretty pricey.

A custom mandrel bent, stainless 2.25" exhaust would be nice, to keep from rusting. But again, pricey.

I want to order a set of crystal clear lenses from europe and run a set of 75w HID's. But at over $300, I might have to settle for standard lights.

Maybe an infini grille if I can find one for the right price?

Maybe convert back to A/C. I think it would be nice to have.

As you guys can see, I am still figuring some stuff out, but I plan on starting everything next spring. I don't have the money at this time, but I will be saving up. Also, it doesn't make sense to drive a newly rebuilt car in winter. I might as well drive the rusty one through the winter, then start on the project. So for right now, my 323 will be staying as it is. No use in putting any time into this one if it's just going to be junked any way.

Seam welding the chasis on a daily? thats just not practical. However I would agree that a good coating of Por-15 on the underside and suspension would be a nice addition. Powder coating is $$ unless you do it yourself

engine rebuild? maybe just leave it, or maybe go Fe3. Depends on finances.
Leave it be, fe3 is basically uncharted territory, and again $$

Adding in A/C to a car that was stripped of it will be very $$. You can use a used blower and evaporator but as far as the condenser, drier, lines, and compressor go it would be near impossible to use used ****. then you've gotta account for a charge too.

Well, since it's all apart anyway, I thought I'd seam weld it in case I ever decide to race it. I don't think I'd ever take it apart again, so now is the time.

And yes, if I did powdercoating, I'd do it myself. My uncle is an appliance repair man and might just be able to get me some old half broke oven to use.

I was thinking going FE3 if I had money left for it. But I might just go through the current motor. The rings are bad in it right now.

And like I said before, my uncle is an appliance repair guy and certified A/C repair man and would be able to help me build a new system. I have some medical issues, so I am considering A/C reconversion because of it.

                lol

I think if I got an FE3, I'd go with a JDM fwd one, not a kia.

And I actually like the FE3

yeah, it's just easier to get one thats made for fwd and not have to adapt it to fit. I thought you said you had to change a few things when you use a kia motor.

So, does anybody think I should buy a factory service manual for when I swap everything over? Or will a hanes manual be ok? I know they have the fsm's online for free, but I can't go in and out of the house when I'm working on cars, and don't feel like printing 1000+ pages off.
