You are talking about the 323C, which is a BHA chassis car. He has a 323F, a BG chassis car...the one with the pop-up headlights, 4 door hatchback.

Oh, fixed my exhaust tip issue - it flew off the car somewhere on the way to or from school. I don't even know what to do...I could go to Midas and get another piece of pipe ballooned out or just buy a new muffler...I like the dual tip look but due to the design of the exhaust and underside of the car, it's impossible to get the Magnaflow to exit straight out.

Put a barely used Miata battery in the Miata, and also got the flywheel turned for the 323. The swap is ready to go...I can't find shift linkage for it so I'll have to fix mine. Typical fallen shifter syndrome...goes back up and works fine so I'll just make some sort of retainer clip or something.

i got my first coat of primer on my bodywork today. i still have some smoothing to do on the driver's side but the passenger side just needs painted, cleared and buffed. i'm making some progress and feeling pretty good about it.

        i still hate bodywork!

there was a pretty significant dent in front of the rear wheel. i pulled and filled it. looks good enough:

        shaved the rear emblems:

after priming i could see that the driver's side needs some more work:

when i get her all painted and blended up and waxed she will feel much more comfortable being seen in public!

        later.

                Is the Miata repaired yet?

ryan the seats I saw are on surface ok, look like Chris' Turpro, he got from a MX 3 I think. What is a reasonable Price at a yard. Somebody should get them.

I'm not really a fan of the PGT's tweed seats or whatever that material is. That's what my 323 seats are...the MX-3 seats feel much better. Going to clean them at work today, and check out dying them tomarrow.

Oh, and my Miata's battery shorted out in the parking lot leaving school today. Luckily this cool guy was driving by and helped me pop-start it.

So now I have a Miata with a bad battery, a Protege with a loose exhaust tip that could fall off soon, and a 323 that won't go into 4th gear. Not bad huh? lol

Seats from Pick N Pull are uhh $19 something each plus tax...I had like $19.90 something in store credit(gotta love it, after a while it has the feeling of a gift card because you forget that you actually already spent that money) so the 2nd seat was $18 something. Doesn't matter if it has seat rails or not, I didn't get them because I can't use them.

I'd say $40 for both is about as much as you should pay.

And yes my dad had a good Miata battery in the garage so I popped that one in and working. Also took the hardtop off the car for the season. Can't wait to drive the car top-down for the first time this year tomarrow. I drove it around the block with the soft top up and it already feels lighter(hardtop is ~45lbs but it makes the car a bit top heavy).

that is totally hot. I love the look of a 4 door hatch. I wish the US would take hints and have some of these. purely sexy.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

i went down to my local hardware store and bought the smallest can of body filler i could find. IMO body filler is body filler.. but i am no expert. body filler is necessary when doing body work but it should be used as thinly as possible. if you want to do bodywork, do yourself a favor and buy a power sander (i have a DeWalt DW411 palm sander that i like to use. for spot work, i can knock down the filler quickly and use it to do much of the detail sanding. every repair should be hand sanded to some extent before it is primed.) if you plan to sand everything by hand plan also to watch you kids grow up and be married off before you finish the job. lol.

bodywork is a universal concept.. not unique to the BG. i did a quick search and found an awesome sight that explains bodywork tools and techniques.

like i said.. i am no pro! i just used common sense and a lot of patience to get as far as i have. unfortunately i have a lot of body work to do on the driver's side before i can start painting. my patience is wearing thin so i am not going to go near it for a couple days.

one thing i can say is there is no substitute for lighting!!

THE PRO LIVES!!! She fired up today for the first time in over 4 months! Suddenly, massive amounts of smoke start pouring out from under the hood. Cut it off, and find out the alternator is locked up. Nothing like a burnout under the hood! Replaced it with a non-cracked alternator and everything runs fine. The parts car is gone, after I pulled the engine and trans BARE-HANDED and threw them in the back. Just because I could. The car was stripped bare, and many parts will live on in the 323 GT. Next up is figuring out why my shifter is bent and won't engage 1rst, 3rd ot 5th gear. She'll be on the road next week! (fingers firmly crossed) Oh, and I'll have some pics soon.
