Lex you refer to FWD BG chassis? Why not to 4WD? Or you mean the BP motors and NOT the BPT? I have a FWD BG chassis (actually its a mx3) with a BPT, can I have a deal with you? If I upgrade next year to a T3 setup with bigger injectors, shall you help me with new base maps?
    Thanks.

I apologize for being unclear. The BPT and variants (with different turbos etc) will work as well. The 4wd chassis is also covered. If I have any concerns about a particular application, I can usually dig out the wiring diagrams and work with those. I know the 1996 MX-3 was an OBDI-OBDII hybrid and had a different wiring harness than the rest.

I can adapt the MS to any of the Mazda/Ford platforms that revolved around the BP/BPT engine variants from 1990-1995. If you want to run an MS in a newer platform, it can still be done but may require a little more work but do contact me and we can discuss it.

Well I have swaped the whole gtx bpt setup (gtx injectors, harness, vaf etc) so I do not have anything in common with the others mx3 apart form the chassis itself!

Alex, two things come to mind:

          1) Would this be for MS1 or MS2? (I'm assuming MS1 with MS2 being an optional upgrade) Either way, having a PNP solution for ~$500 would be outstanding.

          2) After looking at the DIYAutoTune Miata PNP setups (which appear to use a similar connector), would it be feasible to install MS into a stock ECU casing for an additional fee? This would offer a nice, clean install option for those unwilling/unable to modify the area under the center console...

You'd have no issues running the plug and play system.

            Matt,

            1. I plan on offering MS2 as an upgrade option essentially for the cost of the new processor itself.

            2. In order to install an MS in a stock box, you'd need to trim the PCB and then mount the connector on the PCB itself. Without designing my own PNP board for the MS (as DIY has done) this would not be feasible.

However, if things go really well and there is demand, I might design my own MS board with surface mount components and a smaller form factor much like DIY and V3.57 PCB are done. But that's something for the future to consider and it greatly depends on the demand for the product.

Ah, so that's what they did... tricky. I love the DIY solution, but I'd prefer not to be limited to MS1. Will this PNP option be compatible with the Miata?

Which year Miata? With some very small modifications it should be

I'll just PM you rather than clutter up this thread with off-topic posts.

Very interested. What options might there be?

Basically any of the options offered as add-ons to the MS system. Some of these are:

                      - Removal of VAF
                      - Idle air control
                      - Boost control
                      - Launch control
                      - Knock system
                      - Wasted spark

would you be able to set up something like flat shifting with these?

If it's anything like the Haltech, all you'd have to do is wire the clutch switch that overrides the cruise control to an aux-in on the ECU and set it up that way.

Yup, as atomic said, it's a simple modification.

Damn this is gonna be Good!

What tools or peripheral devices are needed in addition to the MS box?

Oh and Atomic EGT, FWIW its not clutter if you and Lex talk shop here in the thread. It makes a more interesting read.

You two are both intelligent tuners. I'm diggin the crosstalk.

                                Surprisingly little

You will unplug the stock ECU, plug the MS in its place, run a vacuum hose to the manifold and turn the key.

If you want to remove the VAF, you'll need to find a good spot to place your GM intake air temp sensor, jump two wires on the VAF plug (which is now missing) and that's that. For boosted applications it will have to be placed in the charge piping after the intercooler with the provided bung.

Of course for tuning the unit, you'll need a DB9 serial cable and a laptop. The software I provide on a CD.

A timing light is also handy because you'll need to set the timing on the MS.

Everything that you need to setup the device in the car given the type of unit you have and options added is explained step by step in a color manual I wrote included on the software CD.
