    I like that spot.. remove the head light for track days and have some fun.. might want to move it back a little bit for wiring/light servicing if you plan to drive it with the head light installed..

      Still working on the final postion so well see where it ends up.

      13hrs and 440mi later I have all the transmissions I need to build the one I want.

        Tell us about your tranny fantasy (lol) what are you going to end up for a final, and such?

        Turbo placement looks kick ass though lol love that! When I go to build a manifold myself, I'll be placing the turbo near that position as well. I'm just planning to have the turbo sit horizontally left to right, vs your vertical front to back setup. I figure this way I could run the downpipe in front of the engine and under still.

          Lol kia case with plate mod, 97 escort gears, and 26 spline mfactory diff.

          I thought about mounting it like that but I'm running out of room out front. The exhaust is going to have to squeeze in between the starter and the rack. I had a piece of 3.5" pipe laying around and it would just barely squeeze back there so I think I can make it work with 3". If I can't I'll just break out the sawzall and dump it out the hood lol.

            Bunch of goodies have been showing up lately.


            Test fitting the new radiator



            And found out that hydro trans have different mounting points than cable.


            The back mount will bolt up to the trans but aparently the case dimensions are different and now it wont clear the rack.

                Should just have to redo the brackets that go from the trans to the crossmember.

                    I am converting to a hydro setup. The problem is that the hydro case front mounting points are about a inch higher than the mounts on a cable case.

                      I'll use the kia trans I said.... it'll be easy I said

                      So last night I swapped my mfactory diff into the kia case so I could put my axles in and position everything to start on the new brackets. Once I tried to put the halfshaft in it became very clear why nothing is lining up. For some reason they rotated the back of the trans down an inch compared to the older cable trans. So now the halfshaft hits part of the oil pan right by where it goes into the diff. Also it won't bolt to the block anymore. The holes are an inch off and its closer to the block so when the bottom of the bracket is touching the block the top is angled out a good 1/4-1/2". The only up side to all this is that if you put the axles in the same spot as before the motor now sits about 1/2" further back and 1" higher.

                        Geez, I wouldn't have thought the cable trans case would be that different! I know you'll get it sorted out, but still sucks none the less.

                            time to build yourself a new bearing carriage for that halfshaft. its just a press in situation. no retaining clips/etc so it shouldn't be hard at all.

                              Hmmm ill mess with it once I get the mounts done.

                              Didnt have any metal to start on the mounts so I did this instead.
