      Hey Rob,

Did you rebuild the GTR - and are you running more power now?

Ryan, what were you doing when the tranny blew up? Was it excessive abuse?

I'd say what's happened there is the little split pin that holds the pinion shaft in has broken, allowing it to slide out. A rotating shaft with the force of your car behind it...well, as you can see, does wonderfull things.

This was the fix we use to solve that problem in the future

For the record, i stripped the teeth of 3rd gear in my car again yesty too...so i have a fun day ahead of removing a gearbox aswell.

Ive never seen the inside of an AWD tranny...

at least ur pressure plate, and flywheel are okay. I would say go ahead and get it resurfaced since its out already.

At least you didn't shoot a rod through the block!!!

It sucks that you have to take the motor out to take the tranny off? That sucks ass. Good luck... You much have done a tranny job recently cause the inside of the case was still really clean.

its just a FWD tranny, & surprisingly this is a tranny i never opened till now. Im astonished @ how clean it was too. A shame.

I Removed the engine since it was less hassle & my turbo needed to be rebuilt anyhow.

                    ^^^ JB Weld it! LOL

I think this picture confused me... That and your front fascia made me think you were AWD, I sowwy...

From what I heard, doing just a clutch job on AWD cars sucks... FWD's are a breeze, especially with the motor out. I hope everything goes well with this, looks like you got it under control...

But yeah, that seems very clean for not ever taking it off... mine was dirty as hell before I cleaned it....

this is what happens when you don't run gear oil! i see alot of red fluid which would lead me to believe that you where using regular ol' ATF!

Bah!!! FSM calls for ATF in colder climates. gear oil wasn't going to prevent me from shearing the dowel pin that holds the pinion shaft in place.

Gear oil is the worst smelling **** in the world.

Besides when you can run redline whats it really matter

i ran gear oil for over a year. screw what the manufators say. i live where it freezes too. its not like im in cali. yes gear oil would have not stopped the pin from shearing off tho.

atf has better heat dissipation, why do u think the newer stang MTX's call for ATF? when i get the tranny for the millen, im goin synthetic Gear oil in the diff. willl never have to change again, plus better lubrication properties.
