    Well, my crank bearings and my main bearings came in the mail today!
    All I need now is the new head gasket to get here. Yeah!

            Got the head gasket ordered today along with a couple other bottom end seals and gaskets.
            All I need now is a couple of days of freezing temps to harden the ground enough to be able to jack the car up and
            start tearing apart the block.
            The plan is to have it running by spring.

                Well the head gasket and lowerend gasket kit came on friday, and I was able to pick up a torque wrench and piston ring sleeve this weekend.
                Now I have everything needed for the rebuild. I'm going to tear down the head again just to double check that there are no valves or lifters sticking in cylinder 2.
                If everything goes well, I'll have her running in no time, especially with Matt91GT.

                      not sure the size, but the exhaust valves are made of chrome and high nickel stainless steel alloy,
                      and the intake valves are made of HNV-3 alloy.
                      +Enginetech High-Performance valves are swirl polished and made out of the finest grade materials. Enginetech knows that remanufactured engines are installed in very harsh environments. Therefore they have upgraded the materials of there Rebuilder’s Valves for severe duty.
                      +These valves have a stem finish of 17 RMS or better, far superior to the more typical 22-28 RMS finish found on most aftermarket valves. The result of this is a longer life for seals and guides and greater valve durability.
                      +All Enginetech valves have a triple flash hard chrome plating that is .0002" per side, with the specific finish for better oil retention, improved resistence to galling, and greater durability.



                      +All of the valve stems are either triple chrome plated or gas nitrided. They even go a step further and harden every valve tip to 50HRc minimum.

                        Well it's been awhile since I've last updated and basically it's my fault, due to working alot and just feeling bummed out, I haven't really done anything to move forward with this project. Anyway's I had today off, and was able to get a couple things together and ready to go in.
                        Today I was able to get the pistons together and was able to get the new valves installed.

                        I have to install th rings yet. I'm a little concerned about possibly ruining them while trying to slide them in. Is there a special tool needed to do the job correctly, or is it just a steady hand to get the rings in?

                          Update:

                          Well if you haven't figured out, Matt91gt backed out on me. But hey thats cool! Good luck in your move to cali Matt.
                          Anyways, I've torn the block all the way down, got the piston rings on and had the cylinder walls and block checked and cleaned up.
                          It's been raining what seems to be for ever and I haven't been able to put the block back in. This weekend is supposed to be nice, so my Sunday is the day. I don't have help so I'm going to be muscling it back in since I don't have an engine lift. It's ok I muscled it out on my own so no biggy.
                          I'll have an update next week along with some pics of my progress.

                                OK! I'm in the middle of rebuilding my GT and I've come across something I'm not sure about. I have a friend that is a mechanic, and he told me that I was going about the build all wrong, and wants me to spend another 3 grand for him to rebuild my engine correctly.
                                Now this is pissing me off! I offered the work to him before I went out and bought everything I thought I needed for the rebuild. Now I have new pistons, rings, rods, bearings, valves, springs, seals, retainers, and gaskets. I also went out and bought some assembly lube. I haven't had my block bored or anything and he said to properly do the rebuild, I have to have the block machined and have the crank polished. Is this true? When I pulled the old bearings out there was very small but very few scratches on the #2 pistons bearings. Now is this true or is he just trying to get some money? My neighbor said they looked alright and I should'nt have any problems with just replacing the bearings.
                                My neighbor said that in his 40 years experience as a mechanic, That he doesn't know of a 4 cylinder block to warp if the engine never really over heated or wasn't structurely modified. He said using stock sized new pistons with new rings and bearings would suffice, and to keep the bearings in as you lower the pistons down thru, you use this tachy assembly lube. Now my question to you is who's right, or are they both correct in some way. I'm going to put the block back together this weekend, and I need to know if it's going to be a total screw up or will I be ok? Am I going to be OK to move forward?
                                Please someone let me know your thoughts.
